Easy to find. Drive up to the gate when we first arrived and pulled up right to an assigned lane where we took our belongings and headed inside. Wait time was 1 min on line at the passenger check-in desk. The women who helped us was so kind that she let us see our train seats before we picked them to make sure they were ok. She let us go outside and actually see the seats which was so nice of her. Friendly service !!! Would definitely take the auto train again.

First time using the Auto Train we took it from Florida to Lorton. The station is clean and the staff are friendly. How they took the cars off and called your numbers was efficient and we didn't have to wait that long. The bathrooms were also clean and there was even a gift shop there. Would definitely use his service again!

This is not a review it is a question when traveling from Lorton, VA to Sanford, Fl via auto train.
my parents and I are traveling for the first time by Amtrak Auto Train from Lorton, VA to Sanford, Fl in the beginning of April and I was wondering:
How is the experience Now? Are the workers friendly? are the seats dirty/ruined or good? How is the food? What time is well recommended in getting to the station for a good dinner time and seating? Where would you recommend in sitting? How is the wifi, does it work everywhere? or just in certain areas? Where are the bathrooms located? how much are the snacks and drinks? Do you have to pay for Breakfast? do they still show movies?
do you have to choose your seats when you get there or before? How is the wifi, does it work everywhere? or just in certain areas?
how is the experience at the end, how long does it normally take to get your car? where are the outlets, in front or on the side, under the window? what is a good time to go for breakfast? Are there other things on the seats like on a plane, like radio stations, light for reading, ac, and heat knobs? Finally, are there other questions you would answer that I have not asked?

I've taken this train round trip twice and one way once for return North. Here's what I've learned: Dinner service is very good. Breakfast is a bit of a joke unless you want cereal. The contrast between the quality of the two meals is striking. The stations are clean on both ends of the route. The cabins and cars are poor. It's the same 1980s cars and facilities. The train has basically been left to rot (like much of Amtrak). I would avoid this train unless I were absolutely positive that I needed a car in FL. If you want to park hop in the Orlando area, the plane is cheaper and faster. However, if you are considering driving vs. the Auto Train, the train is convenient. Renting a sleeper cabin is recommended for travel South as the train is usually full, and the extra space will be appreciated. Heading back North, the cabin rental is wasted money as the train is only half capacity at best in January. Seats and cabins sellout very fast going south for December-January. Plan a year ahead. Amtrak is also super bureaucratic about tickets, so you can't buy a seat and substitute the Traveller later. It's kind of silly considering how little effort they put into actually verifying one's identity at the actual station. In any case, plan well ahead if you want to take this train south in the winter.

Nice way to return North. Beats I 95. Not a bad deal for 2 + car. Sleeping is difficult however.
