Story

The famed Blue Ridge Parkway is literally right outside your door (or tent flap) at this long-standing campground, now a KOA. That means scenic hikes, waterfalls, caverns, ATV trails and several historic sites lie within in easy drive down one of America's most scenic roads, which winds along the backbone of the Appalachian Mountains. Highlights include Natural Bridge, the James River and the Peaks of Otter near Bedford.

Large, level tent site right on the edge of the catch and release fishing pond. Great pool, jump pad and playground. The location is perfect for exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway. Staff friendly, helpful and accessible. Plenty of clean restrooms. Excellent experience

Perfekt stay in the wilderness. Friendly and helpfully. The cabine is comfortable. The small one has a fridge, a coffeemachine, a microwave and a tv, a heater and a cooler inside. And the best thing it's not expensive. Top place

Stayed here for five nights in April. Owners were straightforward, friendly, and always around doing some job or another. They went out of their way to give us a site that would accommodate our trainer's height without having to worry about branches overhead, which we appreciated. Water tasted very nice with good pressure, and facilities were very clean and nice-looking.

We have been to this campground three times and plan to go many more. The setting is beautiful and close to the parkway. Overall the campground is very well cared for and the bathhouses are clean. We stayed in a deluxe cabin so we had running water and electricity. But we could easily stay in another cabin and been happy. The pool was awesome! The water was perfect for a dip on a hot day. The first time we stayed was in June, the second was later in the fall and the third was August. It's been fantastic every time. Phil, Stephani and Jack are polite and gracious hosts. You can tell it's a labor of love. I've seen some other reviews where people were not happy about the wi-fi or not having cable. Honestly, we go to get away so not having cable is not a negative. We want to be outside fishing, swimming or hiking. The wi-fi is spotty and cell service was fine to text and send/receive calls which again was completely acceptable. It's 100% relaxing and disconnected. It's a family campground so there were no loud parties and rowdy neighbors. The pond is fun for fishing, catch and release. The trails are fun, not for marathon training, simply to enjoy the outdoors. We found baby frogs which were so cute, thankfully no snakes lol. Oh there is a store for all the things you may have forgotten, we highly recommend the mystic fire, it changes the colors of the flames for your fire. So cool! They also have gem mining and my son was not disappointed. He found many beautiful gems and crystals and had fun doing it. They have added this jumpy pad thing they've added since our last visit, that was a blast. Then the big ping pong table under the pavilion. There is plenty to do. I can't say enough good about this KOA location. It's open, beautiful, relaxing and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a getaway.
