One would expect all associates, or at least the majority of them, to be working the morning of the busiest shopping day of the year, Black Friday. But not according to the manager at this Macy's. I went to the Macy's at Citrus Park simply to exchange the size of a dress. Every single register, no matter what department you went to, had only 1 sales associate ringing up purchases with the exception of only 2 registers with two associates. Because it IS the biggest shopping day of the year, virtually all customers had multiple items to buy, except for me which only had one item to exchange. Because of multiple-item sales, it took about 15-20mins to complete each transaction. I spent a good 40 mins going from register to register with 6-7 people in line and only 1 cashier. I eventually found 2 cashiers in the junior department, waited in line for about 10mins only to be told there is only one line, which was at the other register. Seriously?! Why? Why on a day such as this you have ONLY 1 line and not 2 since there are 2 of you??? I then went to another register with 1 cashier...waited. Then I found a manager. I explained to this manager, William, that I have been going to every single register for the past 40mins and have found only 1 associate at each. I asked him why would they not have 2 associates at each area ringing up purchases since it was the biggest shopping day of the year. His response was, "Well, more associates are schedule to arrive in 30mins, around 11am" Now that doesn't answer my question, does it. Unfortunately, that was the only response he gave me. His correct response should have been to apologize for the long lines and attempt to find a register that I can go to with fewer than 6 people in line. THAT's what ya do when you have a pissed-off customer. Instead he didn't and went on his merry way. I eventually found a register with no one in line in the men's shoe department. The sales associate who was at this register, unlike his manager, apologized. How are people such as this manager, William, hired to "manage" a store are so oblivious to common customer service and simple. Common. Sense.
