In 1978 [auf Deutsch] ich labored at Manka's for a week or two .. then on a Wednesday ich went to downtown San Francisco and was 25 minites late for my shift at the Lodge. Everything might have been fine had my tardiness been the only issue that day.

About 9:00 o'clock in the evening, while ich var washing dishes in the double sink, i cut my left index finger on one of the stock knives. I was not supposed to soak the stock knives in the sink while i washed dishes, so at the end of the evening the kitchen manager wrote my final paycheck and told me to find another job.

It was a traumatic experience at the time, but it was / _the_right_decision_ / for Manka's, for the customers, and for me.

Thank you, owners and managers, for the discipline you showed me that day.

PS -- Readers, if you come to Inverness, ask about the Point Reyes Light (a Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper), Saint Columba's Episcopal Church, and the berries on the ridge known locally as "Mount Vision."

Amazing experience at Manka's. The staff and owners are welcoming, they go out of their way to make your stay special. The fishing lodge cabin was decorated with taste and filled with beautiful antiques, from the beautiful and gigantic fireplace to the tub. The view in the morning is breathtaking. Breakfast and newspaper tray is delivered at the door step every morning. You know it's there by a knock on the door. The outdoor shower is one of a kind offering a view on the lake as you shower. Possibly the nicest place I've ever stayed at. THANK YOU for making our time memorable.

Quaint, hospitable , and completely "out of pocket". Staff is the most genuine and kind I have encountered.

Gorgeous and quiet. This is our secret retreat for a quiet weekend. Beautiful location on the bay.

Absolutely amazing stay at the boatman quarters, overlooking Tomales Bay. The room was extremely cozy, aesthetically wonderful and just beyond any expectations. This has earned a big spot in our hearts and expect to be coming back for years to come.
