This home and grounds are very well maintained. Our field trip group had great guides who were knowledgeable and friendly. I loved that there was no gift shop or any other attempt to extract cash. We paid the parking fee (it's a state park), but the tour itself was free. We had an opportunity to put a donation in a box as we left, which we were more than happy to do.

If you have read the Yearling ever you should the authors home. Marjorie Kinnan was a woman way ahead of her time. She hung out with some famous characters and held many parties at this home. HEMINGWAY partied and slept here.

Fascinating and well maintained historic property. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and friendly and eager to talk about the history of the area as well as the property and its most famous resident. An interesting day trip and a throwback to old Florida. Some of the less appealing aspects of Rawlings' life are downplayed but that is to be expected of a state-run property. Overall a neat place to check out and the guided tours are well worth the $2 fee.

Enjoyed the visit. Learned quite a bit. Loved the town of Cross Creek. Would recommend it to anyone who has read The Yearling or remembers the movie.
