I had already seen several specialists at the MGH Waltham location and was pleased, so I thought I'd give the primary care a try. Big mistake! Saw Dr Shilpa Kumar. First, I was rushed into the room by a nurse muttering something about staying on time. She actually looked anxiety ridden about keeping the appt on time. I know that my case is a complicated one, so this was the first red flag. Second, I told the Dr I had been coughing for 3 weeks, felt like I had a consolidation in my chest, felt short of breath, had been using my nebulizer, and cough medicine (in addition to other issues we discussed). She never listened to my lungs nor suggested a chest xray, but I did hear about her patient behind me, who was running late? 3 weeks later I ended up in Urgent care, couldn't breath still, felt lousy, and still coughing. Chest infection, 10 days of antibiotics, still coughing bc this went untreated for 5 weeks. Thirdly, her staff are not polite or professional. Her appointment scheduling person, Samantha, scolded me (the patient) for their practice being too busy and understaffed to reply to an appointment request confirmation I sent over, 3 times, on their electronic patient gateway, bc the office staff can't field all the phone calls they get daily. Lastly, I wrote Dr Kumar an email letting her know that she missed my lung infection diagnosis. No response. I called MGH patient liaison and told them about my experience with the practice and was told the practice manager would get back to me when she was back in the office on Jan 16th. Again, no response. These people are incompetent, have no follow up, are understaffed by their own admission, so if you want the worst Healthcare has to offer a sick patient, go here.

Left this practice a while ago. They don't return calls or voice mails, there is no way to talk to anyone short of scheduling an appointment. The doctors there made me feel like I wasting there time. Didn't feel like they cared about me at all.

Two stars only because one doctor, Dr. Yeh seems very competent in her care - although she is not taking on new patients, so I can not in any way recommend this office to prospective patients. The other doctors and nurses, several of which I have seen since my primary doctor left, in my experience of being a patient there for 6 years, chronically failed to treat me properly and on other occasions failed to diagnose apparent issues which compounded my condition.

Dr. Schwartz and the rest of the staff has always been both professional and caring. I rarely wait more than 15 minutes and I can typically get same day urgent care appointments. The front desk has been awesome scheduling tests that the doctor has wanted same day even having to look through multiple locations. I read that others have problems with excessive waits, but I have only had that once with an apology. Dr. Schwartz will also ask a colleague for a second opinion when warranted and she doesn't push intervention when it isn't necessary.

Ok so I love my doctor. But waiting time is ridiculous! Last time I waited 1.5 hours and this time I am currently waiting at the doctors office and it's been 1 hour and 10 min. I am about to lose it.. if we are going to wait that much, why schedule an appointment??
