I called Matt's Windows & Glass to have some refurbishment work done on our Anderson windows. I called the office twice and each time was told they'd call me back to schedule an appointment to come by my house. They didn't. At the recommendation of a friend who had used Matt's Windows, I called the owner's cell phone. It turned out they were in Los Alamos when I called and I met them shortly thereafter at my house to explain the work I wanted done. About 20 minutes into showing him the work needed I noticed he was taking no notes. I asked if he wanted me to write down each item so he could provide a quote. He said "no," but shortly thereafter had his assistant start taking notes. He left with a long list of tasks and promised a quote or bid within a few days. This was at the beginning of June. Over the next several months I called the office at least six times. Each time I was told enthusiastically "oh yeah, we'll get that quote to you tomorrow, then we'll get up there next week and get it done." Each time nothing would happen and I'd call again. This has gone on all summer. In late July I called the owner's cell phone and told him I still had no quote and that I would like to get one and get the work scheduled. He offered that he would replace the gaskets on my south-facing windows and lubricate the hardware for $500. I reminded him that this was but a very small portion of the work I'd asked him to do. He became flustered and told me he was in his truck driving back to his office and would review my paperwork and call me immediately upon arrival at his office. That was six weeks ago.  I had high hopes when I met Matt, he seems knowledgeable. But, he appears not to run a real business, rather it's some sort of half-assed hobby. I've given up on calling him, because if he can't even follow through with a statement of work, what are the chances he would complete the work he was hired to do. Very very disappointing. To add insult to injury, he pulled a large strip of gasket out of one of my windows and cut it off with a knife to take with him as an sample in case I was unable to find replacement gaskets on my own. So he not only didn't do the work, he left my window in worse shape than before he arrived. Plus, I have two large boxes of hardware he told me to order sitting in my garage. It makes me sick.
