This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at a mechanic (and I have experience)! I scheduled an online appointment at 4 pm one evening for an oil change due to a coupon I had received in the mail from Meineke. Once there, I asked about two other minor issues I was noticing (which I also said would probably be seen when doing their mandatory "courtesy check"). To be clear, I drive a 2001 Subaru Outback with 210,000. I have had that car for a long time and am aware of what isn't working well with it. Are there small leaks? Absolutely. Does it make a little rattle here and there? Of course! But it is reliable and starts perfectly! I am not going to replace anything that isn't necessary for the car to be reliable and safe for the next couple of years. Immediately, once I said I had a $9.99 coupon for a basic oil change and showed the woman at the counter, she said that they wouldn't accept the Meineke coupon because it comes from corporate. What?!? A coupon for your business won't be accepted?!? I had never heard of such a thing. She then offered me their oil change options, the cheapest of which was $30. I was not going to pay $30 for an oil change (which is where a mechanic makes a large amount of profit). She then offered to take $5 off that price, which is still way too high of a price for an oil change. I can check my own headlights/wipers and top off my own fluids. This does not take skill (nor much time or money) to complete. It is basically all profit for a mechanic. Now, on to the other two minor issues that I had: About four years ago, the hose clamps on the fuel line had come loose during cold weather (the metal contracts). I had a local mechanic in Waunakee tighten them for me four years ago for about $30. It took that mechanic about 10 minutes of time under the hood to tighten the clamps. When I asked Meineke if that is something they could do for me, the woman at the counter said it would probably be about $70 plus tax and fees! My last issue, just testing the car battery would have been covered with the mandatory courtesy check, but auto stores will also just do this for free, so I left Meineke and took my car with, frustrated that I had left work early and wasted time driving to this store and getting rejected. This store seems to be only out to take as much money from the customer as possible. If you are not familiar with cars or basic mechanic psychology, please avoid this place in order to not get ripped off! They seem to be only out to make a little more money off of you and play that game pretty well. Play it safe and go to another mechanic in town!

I was impressed that I got an appointment the same day I decided my car needed to be looked at. I like that the inspection is free and that I got an email with pictures of just how crappy my brakes were, instead of someone just telling me they were bad and needed replacing. These little things provided me with a better sense of trust even though it was my first visit to a Meineke shop. On top of it all, I'm extremely pleased that my car stops nicely now.

Can I give 0 stars? well the post below was my husbands post. I ended up choosing them because I was sick, my normal mechanic was booked out, and my brakes were to bad to wait. So I went through with it. Wish I hadn't as a gift certificate went missing from my car. I should have cleaned out my car first, my bad, but as I mentioned I was sick. Between the drastic reduction in price after a phone call to my father and having something go missing from my car, I question the quality of the work done and quality of the people who work there.

Shady. My wife brought her car in for a brake job. They quoted her $1,000. She called her father to ask if that was reasonable (it isn't), and then the price magically dropped to $345. Any place that discounts 2/3 with a phone call is obviously ripping people off.

I live a few blocks from the 414 Commerce Dr. Location, so I will occasionally use their location for oil changes. This week I received a coupon in the mail with a variety of offers - totally unambiguously pointing me to the Commerce Dr. Location. The flyer had the 414 Address printed on it and even a nice Map directing me to the corner of junction and mineral point. One of the offers on the flyer was 45% Off any oil change package. I scheduled my appointment and took time off of work so get my oil changed. When I brought my keys up to the desk, I informed them that I would also be taking advantage of the 45% off deal. I was then flatly informed that the owner of THIS PARTICULAR Meineke doesn't accept coupons on the flyers that are sent out. These flyers and coupons explicitly point to the user to the 414 Commerce Dr. Location. This is, at best, false advertising and, at worst, a farcical bait and switch situation.
