First time visit and most definitely will not be our last. We where tired of the normal restaurants on the main strip from down by long horn to hwy 50. I asked my wife to google restaurants in Jefferson City since we live in the Hermann area and not use to the area and Mel's popped up and it had what we love, home cook meals, so we went.. what an incredible place and we would have never been if he hadn't searched for it.. incredible food and even better staff.. prices where excellent for the amount of food you get.. great sweet tea as well.. very good place..

My only complaint was the gravy, the service, attentiveness, friendliness of the staff, and other food quality was outstanding! The gravy was thickened with excessive flour (all gravy has flour I'm aware) instead of a slow reduction, wasn't enough to ruin the experience but it was noticeable. Maybe they ran out and had to rush some? Otherwise incredible experience! Even got me some vanilla extract for my coffee! Would definitely recommend!

The food and service was excellent. Servers were making sure the coffee cup was filled and food done right. Will definitely go back when in Jefferson city again

We really like eating here but today the food wasn't so great. My wife is going through chemo treatment & has a hard time finding something she can eat. Mel's usually has the best biscuits & gravy around & this is something that she can eat but today they were so salty she couldn't eat them all. When we checked out we told her the gravy was to salty & she said I know I told her she should taste it & she said she did & she knew it was too salty so they put in more milk. What I don't understand is why she didn't taste it again & wait to serve it until it was fit to ear

Great food, great prices and portions are very generous. I was very impressed with the staff. They are not concerned about who's table it is, if you need anything all of the wait staff will help. Our drinks were never ignored. This is a must visit restaurant.
