Story

Melt Bar & Grilled was born from Cleveland musician and chef Matt Fish’s love of two things: great craft beer and the humble grilled cheese sandwich. Where most people saw a quick meal comprised of two common kitchen staples, Matt envisioned the potential for so much more… “comfort food, all dressed up,” as he put it. The impetus for Melt’s selection of gourmet grilled cheese was to bring classic American dishes to the table in an unpretentious, truly unique and fun way.

With a skeleton crew of twelve other people who shared his vision, Matt opened Melt Bar & Grilled in Lakewood, Ohio in September, 2006. Not knowing what to expect, that first crew watched Melt quickly transform from a tiny punk rock beer bar to the biggest culinary buzz to hit greater Cleveland in decades. The proof of concept was undeniable. People “got it,” and the rest, as they say was history.

At Melt, the food is big, but the experience is larger than life. Come take a seat today and discover what the buzz is all about! Read more at http://meltbarandgrilled.com

Service was friendly and professional. But proportion of bread to filling was a bit high, and it would be great if there was an option for different kinds of bread. Nice variety of tasty fillings, but no choice of bread and the bread they do have is super thick, so much that it threatens to overwhelm the ingredients. Also, considering that most of the offerings are simply grilled bread with something between, the time to get our food seemed unreasonably long (at least 40 min). However, maybe it was an off-night. I'd be willing to give Melt another try if they start offering more than just the 1-inch Texas toast.

We went with a group of almost 40 people after a convention. The staff was great, very helpful and accurate. Great selection of craft, domestic and imported beer, and a good size food menu. My meal was excellent, unique and cooked perfectly, the other meals looked great too. Very reasonable prices as well. I would definitely go back and try something else.

This was my second visit at The Melt. Both times, I ordered the Mighty Macaroni! It’s basically a large, deep- fried macaroni portion inside of the sandwich. I can’t even begin to describe how good the bread was. First time I ordered the “whole” size.. Second time I ordered the “half” size because there is so much food! (Not complaining)! If you get the fries, beware: they are highly delicious and they serve a very generous amount! Can’t wait to go again and maybe try the Pierogi Melt!! Side note: my boyfriend ordered the Philly Melt and said he wasn’t impressed

When they first opened, they were amazing. You can tell service and quality have gone down since then. Having said that it’s still a good place to dine.
