The best meal and dining experience of my life. Truly a night we will remember for a lifetime. From the perfect cocktails to the various dishes that were the epitome of flavour to the ambiance it will continue to write the book on what California cuisine should be. Fine dining but unpretentious. Class but low key. We spent nearly 4 hours taking it all in, including meeting with the man gave it its name. Thank you!

Michael's has been around for 43 years or so. I have been going to dine there thru the 4 decades nev we have i had a bad dinner. This times was exceptionally awesome. European white asparagus, Duck confitt, 28 day dry aged rib eye and cheese course. Paired great with Rudd wines. Before we even ordered, Michael came out and greeted us himself. An unexpected treat. The food was fantastic. The ambience was too tier. Wish I was I local so I could enjoy this gem more often.
The atmosphere is friendly, the food is interesting and excellent. The happy hour is a great value and Mac’s warm welcome makes it a special place to be. And the cocktails and wine list are great!
Overpriced, underwhelming. The bread was the best part. Nothing struck us as great, and when the $300 bill landed for the two of us, it occurred to us that the salmon was over powered by the onion / bok choi, the Brussels sprouts were small and under cooked, the onion soup had a burnt flavor, the spare rib was cold, literally everything was underwhelming for an average restaurant, and extremely disappointing for a restaurant of this price range. The Vieux Carrie was nice and the sour dough bread would have been excellent if it was warmed. We didn’t get Michael’s magic.
We went to Michael’s for the Valentines dinner, and I can honestly say it was the worst meal and service I’ve ever had. I never write reviews, but I am so disappointed by how much we spent $350+ for the quality of the food and service. After sitting down, it took 40 minutes to get our first drinks, which were only beers on tap. We didn’t get our first appetizer until 1.5hrs after sitting - I was starving, it was 8:15pm by that point. The duck confit was cold and dry, really just not good. We got our dinner about 2/2.5hrs later, and the food again was only fair. We had prepaid for dessert, but we had been there over 3hrs and finally just asked for the dessert to go. Nothing was comped, they didn’t reduce our bill or bring us any extra drinks/snacks - they just kept saying “sorry we’re backed up.” Just really annoying how much we paid for this kind of food and service. Don’t recommend and will not return :
We had an amazing meal here. The back patio was perfect for a group of 5 of us at a roundtable, able to talk with everyone. The food was excellent as was the service. The pasta special with mushrooms and truffle was wonderful.
Amazing food and service; we even met Michael. They managed to fit our table of 5 in at a moments noticed. A class!
The food is delicious and the atmosphere is beautiful. The staff is wonderful every need is met and it’s like they can sense when you need something! I will definitely be back! This was a special night for me and they have no idea how much they added to my experience.
