I was here once before in the evening and it was spectacular! I came alone as a single woman and I had an amazing time on a weekend evening. It was very lively…and I just had cocktails which were delicious. The vibe was cool and upscale. Today I came with my husband for a beautiful Sunday brunch. We made reservations last minute and even though we had a table, we sat at the awesome bar. I ordered the lobster truffle eggs Benedict, and I have literally never ever ever had a better eggs Benedict of any type in my entire life. The lobster was finely chopped up, the English muffin was not hard and easy to slice through, the béarnaise sauce was flavorful but not too overwhelming, and the truffles literally made my mouth orgasm. My husband had the bananas foster French toast which made me feel like I died and gone to heaven. I am including pictures from both visits. This morning it was a little overcast with a marine layer so I wasn’t able to take any good view pictures but the view on a normal day is spectacular. Enjoy this hidden gem
This restaurant was absolutely beautiful. It's at the top of the hotel of course that's why it's named the penthouse. My friends ordered different things from what I ordered because I'm vegan. So there aren't very many options for vegans. If you are vegetarian you will have more options. I had the fruit salad and avocado toast. It was very good and I definitely enjoyed my meal. It's not overly priced and it's actually a good price for the items that are on the menu. The food was great but the scenery was very exquisite. It was definitely worth going there. Vegetarian options: Vegetarians can definitely find something to eat at this restaurant. It is vegetarian friendly. It is not very vegan friendly. But I was able to find two things that I could eat.. Parking: So as you enter into the property of the hotel. You automatically enter into the valet area. I believe it was $10. But that was the only option for parking. If you wanted to park at the hotel/Penthouse. With that being said. If you want parking. That isn't valet. You'll need to go and park on the street. Wheelchair accessibility: As you enter the building from the Valley area, there is an immediate walkway that you can go into the hotel. Then there are elevators to the left and to the right. And I can take you directly up to the penthouse restaurant. Dietary restrictions: Again if you're vegan, you will have a very limited option for food. There were a few things as well there were gluten-free. And then there were also other options for meat eaters as well, of course.
We came to The Penthouse for my mother's birthday celebration. There were three of us including my daughter. Definite pros: The restaurant is located at the top of a hotel, so you get some pretty great views. The food was incredible. I ordered coconut tuna poke bowl and it was one of the best I've ever tried. The truffle pizzetta was also really good, just as the king salmon dish. Overall, great experience food wise. However, there was one drawback. We were seated close to the bar, pretty much by the entrance. It was Friday evening and it got crowded and very loud very quick. A lot of young people enjoying themselves after work. I couldn't hear across the table what my mom was saying read "yelling" to me. So, if we come to this restaurant again and I'm pretty sure we will because of the excellent food, we will choose a different time. Probably brunch would be a better option for a family gathering.
My friend and I were visiting LA from NYC and fell in love with the pictures of the Penthouse when looking for a good brunch spot. The Service: We made a reservation and was sat in 2-3 minutes. I ordered a drink I didn’t like and they were very quick to replace it with another. The View: I put in my notes that we wanted a seat with a good view, and we got a corner table with views of the ocean and the city! These views are unobstructed and unmatched. The Food: I can’t tell you how beautiful the food was plated. I am one to eat with my eyes and my stomach; and both were well satisfied. I got the Waffles and my friend got the Two Eggs any style and a side of kid-sized waffles. **They do have smaller portions for children! All in all, we had a great time and would recommend giving it a try!
Great ambience! Sat at the bar because it was a busy time but all the window seating looked lovely and intimate. There is also seating by a fireplace which I would love to try when I come back. Bartenders were all friendly and checked in consistently. Food was brought out timely and was pretty good. I had the Maplewood and old fashioneds for drinks, chicken for dinner and cheesecake for dessert. Bartender recommended it and I will do the same.
We had dinner here after a photo shoot. The food was AMAZING as well as the service! I highly suggest the lobster mac and cheese and the Cauliflower Steak! The Resturant is located on the top floor so the views are great, so many places to take pictures. Our table was in front of the resturant with a great view. We'll definitely be back to try breakfast or lunch here!
I loved this place. The black truffle egg Benedict was my favorite. The view was gorgeous. The avocado toast was good, and the muffin was excellent. Must visit this upscale place.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: No
My sister and I were staying at the Huntley on our trip to Santa Monica. Naturally we decided to have breakfast at the Penthouse. The view at the top is wonderful. We were seated by the window with a view of the beach and the surrounding city. I definitely recommend a window seat. The food and service were wonderful. The portions were generous and filling. I got the 3 egg omelet and it came with potatoes and an additional side- I chose the blueberry Muffin. My sister got their rendition of salmon avocado toast. If you like salmon and avocado toast you really can't go wrong with ordering this. Overall the experience here was great and I would recommend stopping in if you are staying at the hotel.
I was expecting better service. My friends and I went to brunch and service was lacking. Our waiter acted as if he didn't want to be there. We were seated before another party but our order was taken after their order. The food was good but part of the order came out after we were nearly finished eating. The martini I had was not great. Nice views though.
Absolutely love this restaurant. Went there for Christmas brunch and everything was amazing. We insisted on waiting for a table with a view and it was certainly worth the wait. Will definitely return.Food: 5/5
