What a trip back into time! This was a regular spot for me to eat breakfast almost 40 years ago! The building is the same but renovated inside and a new outside patio. New ownership has taken over and updated the food and the interior. The two breakfasts were good and the coffees were excellent. I recommend this place for a casual meal - nothing extraordinary!
Well let me put it this way, the food was good, not great. The service was good, not great. The prices were crazy, not great. Four of us with regular breakfasts one OJ and three coffees $108 with tip! Excuse me, what? There was no vibe. It’s a pretty plain little diner. Best news is it’s not a chain restaurant. Just didn’t feel welcome.
So happy to see Millie's legacy live on through American Kitchen. Plus the coffee cake still lives on tasteful transition and much more seating with new outdoor patio. Dog friendly and obviously family friendly. We'll be back!
The food was great Love the lady for ordering How can you be so kind
The coffee was good and strong and the service was very good with staff attentive. I was very disappointed in the food, parts of the country potatoes were hard and tasted like they were cooked the day before or the day before that. My breakfast sandwich looked unimpressive, it was served on a hamburger bun and the egg bottom was overcooked/crispy. I don't think I'll be back.
I used to really love Millie’s 5 stars I haven’t been in years. I went the other day and what a disappointment. Review for the table: Eggs Benedict were soft boiled not poached, 3 egg omelette was a 2 egg omelette with barely any goat cheese, pancake was very thin and under cooked, the breakfast burrito was tiny, and the coffee was weak. I know things are hard with inflation and recovering from Covid, but we really felt ripped off. For now we will just cook a much better breakfast at home
This would absolutely be 5 stars if it wasn't a historic location in Lafayette. No waffles! Hard to feel like Millie's without them. The menu is a bit divided - some items are well executed versions of classic dishes the eggs Benedict is great, while other dishes are revisions I don't particularly care for the corned-beef hash is disappointing. I see this as diner food vs Instagram food. The food is overall pretty decent, and the coffee isn't bitter. The coffee cake is perfect for a sweet tooth! My biggest recommendation is the chorizo omelette with romesco - not enough places use romesco sauce, and it was perfect on this dish.
Sorry but please bring back the cute “grandmas living room” vibe of the old Millie’s the white walls are sterile. And the bougie plating for like breakfast eggs is ridiculous and looks tacky. The Millie’s legacy is one of no frills home grown cute kitsch this is just disrespectful. If i wanted to go to a gentrificationesque cafe I’d go to any of the other new ugly restaurants in Lafayette
Great food! Went here for lunch with my family. Service was fairly quick and friendly with helpful suggestions! I got the pulled pork with truffle fries, super tender with great sauce! Other members of the group got the huevos rancheros that had some good steak and guac and another got the chicken fried chicken that was good as well! The kitchen was amenable to the special requests with our food and everything was very good!
Overall, an ok experience. Not great and not horrible. Food was excellent, ambiance and service not so much.
