I really liked this museum. I went on a Friday afternoon so it wasn't too crowded, but I would imagine during the weekend or on holidays it would fill up more.
As far as the artwork is concerned, it's very diverse from both the perspective of the time periods to the styles and medium. There was even a section with ornate furniture. I just wish I had more time to spend.

A crown jewel for Milwaukee. The addition of the modern wing took the museum to the next level. Great variety of art and great cafe options.

One critique/suggestion:  remove the tacky window sticker ads on the east cafe windows overlooking Lake Michigan! 
I understand a need to advertise, but this really detracts from the view and diminishes the appearance of the museum.

A very good small art museum! A good variety of art work from different areas. Good price for public. If a teacher in the state of Wisconsin you get in for free. Parking across the street and below the museum. Good for all ages!

The Milwaukee Art Museum is a treasure! It is stunning inside and out. It offers a great view of the lake as well. The collections and permanent pieces are unique and diverse, and the staff is kind and courteous. It is a great way to spend a long morning or afternoon, especially in the cold winter! It is also very clean and was not over crowded when I visited.

We are members of the museum and love it. Plus they serve cocktails in the lower level. But I will say the latest degas exhibit was slightly disappointing only because they had only a few drawings from Degas, a room dedicated to Picasso and his naked women and an enjoyable selection of cubism but I wanted more Degas!
