Modern China is the most poppin' spot in Walnut Creek, boasting a high energy lounge atmosphere with spectacular fire-pits and comfortable couches, authentic Chinese cuisine and world class bar.

With Craft Cocktails such as the Asian Pear, and the Rose Gimlet, patrons have been stunned with our exquisite libations. The bar staff is skilled and knowledgeable, and can whip up practically anything you can think of.

The food is good but overshadowed by the awesome atmosphere! Great for groups or couples. The small plate menu is great and allows the table to try many different items. They also have a small dim sum menu. Service was prompt initially but slow as the meal progressed.

Server could genuinely smile more and be more welcoming. Service was average. The food was very good, however make special note to server that you'd like to finish your first course before the second and third come. Overall great experience. Drinks we're perfectly made and prices are spectacular.

3rd time to this place. Again, crappy service and bad food. Waited 15 minutes to see a server. Half the table had finished their meal before the other half got the food. Had to ask for missing drinks. Dishes stacked on the table (can you say “bus the table”). Had to ask for utensils. Brought out wrong food. Waitress disappeared for lengths of time. Just a crappy place to eat. Only good for happy hour drinks.

As an Asian person, I really can’t recommend eating here. I know a lot of locals really like this restaurant but I really can’t figure out why. Maybe it’s because of the happy hour? The food is not good... it’s not terrible but it’s just not good. I would be much happier eating at Panda Express over this place.

Horrible table service. We ordered 3 apps and they came one at a time within like 3 minutes of each other. So strange. Then we ordered our “meals” for us 4, each ordering a completely different item and again, they brought each item all by themselves. The first meal came and then like 3-4 minutes later the next meal came, then we told the guys to start eating and we waited another 10 minutes before one of our order is sushi came, then 10 minutes more our last order came. So crazy, we all ate in stages, which is ridiculous. Good food, lousy service.
