Great 4 day visit. Last day excitement caused by power outages that knocked all lights for five miles around. Drove ten miles to find a Denny's open and not yet swamped by visitors. Had nice dinner entertaining a baby in the next booth. Going back to motel, the street lights literally came on directly over us and motel lights came back on. An interesting night. Only down side was no elevators working in the morning.. Lots of fun.

Beautiful location on the beach and nice well appointed rooms (if a little small). 5 stars for the property. The problem was that they were either poorly managed or extremely understaffed for the number of guests booked - I spent at least an hour of my 17 hours there waiting for service for things that could have been easily addressed in advance! 15 min to check in, 2 calls to front desk that were unanswered to ask for a wine opener, 20+ minutes waiting at front desk to ask same question, then was sent to the bar, 10 more minutes waiting at the bar, then told I had to bring bottle down to be opened (that whole 30 min could have been saved had they simply answered the phone!) Next morning, called for regular coffee as rooms were only stocked with decaf (strange). Asked for someone to bring it, since it should have been there in the first place. They said they’d “try”. 30 min later, no coffee. Waited another 10 min at front desk for it (then had to rush to leave as they couldn’t accommodate a late checkout. Fine, but then don’t make your guests spend an hour waiting for your service!!!) They did give me a $30 food/beverage credit at check in for the initial wait, which was nice (the restaurant has amazing views and fast service, if rather pricey!) But I still felt the amount of time waiting was excessive, especially when they should answer their phones and have regular coffee in the rooms in the first place.

The views are amazing but the hotel needs work. The WiFi was not working not were the elevators. The staff is great, the restaurant is good. The common areas are nice as well. The rooms have giant windows that look out over the ocean and also the walkway so anyone walking by gets a nice view of the room... Not terribly private.

I enjoy the location of this hotel. You can just walk to the beach. Bar, food and rooms are all as expected. Not too small not too big. How ever bathroom could use a bit more room. Pool and the hot tub was nice if you decide to use instead of the ocean. Hotel will provide woof for the bonfire at night. You can enjoy some wine, fire and ocean breeze at the same time.

Used to really, really like this hotel when it was a Best Western. Stayed there literally dozens of times for weekend getaways with the wife and kids. Then new owners came in. They seem to have slapped on a little paint and really jacked up the prices for the room. This may still be a decent hotel located just outside Monterey and on the water, but make no mistake about it, you're going to be paying premium pricing (most of the time) for a Best Western experience. Update: made the mistake of staying here again. Lowering the review to 1-star. Paying $300 a nite for a hotel with electronic doors that don't work, bath tubs that don't drain, rooms that are so dark that you can't read a book, etc. Poor value for the dollar!
