Mission

“Seek justice, rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow” (Isaiah 1:17) is our firm mission. Members of the firm have not only served as effective trial lawyers applying the law, but they have also helped shape the law. Founder, James Murphy served as a state representative from 1944-1948. Thomas B. Murphy served as a state representative from 1961-2002, and Speaker of the House from 1973-2002, overseeing passage of many of the laws benefiting us today. In 1998, Michael L. Murphy became a Superior Court Judge. Stephen E. Garner joined the firm in 1983, and served on the Georgia State Board of Workers Compensation Advisory Council from 1988-2013 helping draft many of our Workers Compensation laws. In 2000, Stephen E. Garner started Peace Like A River Mediation Services, and in 2014 he was selected as a National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyer. We strive to autograph every case we handle with excellence and treat folks the way we want to be treated ourselves.

I used Murphy & Garner to appeal my disability claim. They handled my claim with Social Security and got my claim approved in a very timely manner. I had Long Term Disability Insurance through my employer and Mr. Garner has gotten me favorable results each time I've had an issue with them. The last visit he handled the issue from start to finish within one hour while I was in his office. Everyone in the office has always been very professional and super nice. I highly recommend Mr. Garner and his staff to handle any legal issues you might have.

Words could never express how appreciative we are to Attorney Garner and his staff. This law firm operates on a professional level, yet each of the staff operate with compassion and love.   We were educated on "what to expect" ahead of time in our case.  It wasn't your normal "walk in the DARK" experience that you have with a lot of law offices. We were well aware of each step to take before taking it. 
They are always friendly and answer quickly to the emails and voice mails we leave. Attorney Garner truly looks at his clients with their best interest at heart. He doesn't rush you and listens with a patient ear. We definitely would use this law firm again if needed and we will recommend others to this law firm. Thanks again to Attorney Garner and his law firm!

Mr. Garner and his staff were absolutely great in helping me trying to get my disability.  He and his staff at Murphy & Garner went way beyond what I expected.  
    Mr. Garner and his staff was always there any time I needed them. They answered any questions I had. If I had any questions that they didn't know the answer to they would call me back with the answer or Mr. Garner would. 
    If I had to go through this again he and his staff would be the ones I would call and recommend to anyone that needs help with their disability. 
    Thank you again Mr. Garner and your staff for helping me and being there for me during this long process. I could not express how great you and your staff were.

I applied for disability in Feb 2014 all by myself, and it was a confusing, frustrating process.  After my case was denied I hired Mr. Stephen Garner from the law firm of Murphy & Garner to handle my disability case.  I HIGHLY recommend the services of Mr. Garner and his assistant Nancy Allen.  I firmly believe that I won my disability case because of their efforts.  

Once my case was in their hands they handled the case professionally and capably with great compassion.  When I called Nancy, crying from the pain, asking if anything had changed in my case she always took time with me.  She is so empathetic.  Mr. Garner and Nancy returned every call or email, and answered every question promptly. 

I moved from Georgia to Oregon in the middle of this case, and I thought I would need to hire a new lawyer, but Mr. Garner said he had always wanted to go to Oregon.  So he came to Oregon for my hearing and he won my case!  I could tell that the judge liked Mr. Garner and appreciated that he had traveled so far for my case.  And 8 days later my case was found fully favorable (approved back to onset date)!   Thank you, Mr. Garner!!!  (And Nancy!)  And I will gladly answer any questions that a potential client may have.  Mr. Garner, you may give my email address out in this case.
