Story

Mike Engel owner of Murphy's Transmission and Automotive Repair in LaGrange Park, IL has always had a knack for reparing cars. "I built my first engine when I was 15" Mike said.

In 1995, Mike opened up Murphy's Transmission and Automotive Repair. It was named after a bakery business his mother wanted to open called Miss Murphy's Cakes. Unfortunatly Mike's mother passed away before she was able to open, so Mike named his shop in memory of his mother.

Transmission & Complete Auto Repair — 5 star May 25, 2017 4:24pm I don't know much about cars mechanically so having a trustworthy mechanic is vitally important to me. After several different places throughout the years I have finally found Murphy's Transmission and have been going there for a few years now. Their both great but, I usually deal with Chris, who is awesome. He has given me advice on how to prevent and maintain my car to avoid having mechanical problems, and once even advised that I don't do an expensive repair to fix a small leak, but instead just said to check the fluid every couple of weeks and I add just a little bit of fluid once a month instead of a very expensive repair. I trust them completely and recommend them to anyone for any mechanical auto work.

Chris has always been super nice and supper helpful with my car iv gone to him and Mike twice for my car and they were very helpful . Thank you guys for all your hard work and time for fixing my car I would recommend Murphy's to anyone who is having car problems and would consider coming back again in the future.

I have been taking my two cars to Murphy's almost since they first opened on 31st and 25th. They have gone out of their way to find parts and repair my 1995 Saturn coupe. They are now servicing my "daily driver" a new Mazda 3. They are fair, prompt, and convenient for me. Chris and Mike are great guys in my book. I give them 5 stars.

The service is stellar. They always go just a little beyond whether its a small fix or information. The staff is friendly and professional. They know their stuff! They were highly recommended to me by a friend, and I would do the same for anyone else.
