A very elegant art museum with both historical works and contemporary pieces. The museum has many exhibits that are permanently on display, but they also have a nice variety of temporary special exhibits that are included with general admission. Admission is a but expensive, but they do offer discounts for students, seniors, etc. so make sure to take advantage of those benefits! The MFA also participates in a Bank of America program where cardholders get free admission to the museum on the first weekend of each month. The museum has two do ing options, a little market-style cafe by their family courtyard, and a restaurant, The New American Cafe, that is located centrally within the museum (although it is definitely over-priced).

One of the best museums in Boston. Massive and impossible to digest everything in one visit. They do a great job with making interesting temporary exhibits. The museum is always clean and well run, with friendly and helpful staff. A wonderful place to come and escape the craziness of the city. Pro-tip: Wednesdays after 4 pm museum admission becomes by donation.

So worth the price at the door! With our tickets we were allowed to visit again within the next week too so you get 2 visits in the end. You're going to need both visits because this place is HUGE! Still not sure if I was able to see all the breathtaking art on display. You're free to go in and out during the day, but there's also a cafe inside the museum if you don't want to leave to get food. There's an abundance of breathtaking and historically significant art. I'm so humbled to be able to look at Van Gough and other great artists so closely (no annoying glass blocking the art and you can get close enough to see the brush strokes). Such a great experience! ♡

Just awesome! You may spend all your day there if you really like and enjoy art. Take money with you to eat something there and continue the tour. I recommend rent the guide headsets, you can live a different experience listening the music, stories, tips and extra information.

We went to see the exhibition Making Modern. We did not do the audio tour, but the descriptions next to the pictures helped us understand what we were seeing. I always enjoy this museum immensely. I love the Art of the Americas section.
