Large sites available. Direct access to Lake Michigan shoreline. Beach area at the north campground is small but the water is very clean and free of algae and seaweed. Surrounded by many larger beaches with quick access. Very quiet area, and only 5 miles from gas stations and Dollar General, which is a good place to hit when you forget camping supplies.

There is much to do at this park!  We camped, hiked, biked, kayaked, and fished. We wee never bored. Channel Campground was clean, showers were clean, bathrooms could have used a little TLC. Campsites were a little small and close together in our loop, but we had an awesome site right on the channel.  If you go hiking, be careful in the sand dunes area since the trails are not marked well.

First-time visit to Muskegon State Park to scout out a camping spot for our motorhome and we found much more than a campsite. A clean Sandy Beach with a great view. The bathrooms were pretty clean without the disgusting odors one would expect to find in a public Campground.

What a great park to visit! I visited on a weekday during off season only to be met by a group of about 60 kids who all high fived me on the way into the park! It really made my day! The beach has some gorgeous white sand and the trails are great to hike. It's great too see kids connecting with nature and the DNR does a fantastic job of maintaining this park.

It's a really nice place, although some trails are not that well defined. I recommend checking a map before going or taking a gps otherwise it's easy to get lost. Take some insect repellent with you.
