Story

If you are looking for quality braids that are neat, unique and long lasting then Nana's Hair Braiding is where you need to go. Nana herself is a native African born in Ivory Coast (West Africa). From her mother and grandmother, Nana learned the age-old methods of braiding. While a child woman of her region, she was so eager to learn how to braid that, when she could not find anyone to practice braiding she would use the extension of plant fibers and cotton yarn. It is this determinate spirit tirelessly exploring new techniques that has turned her into the brilliant artist she is today. Inspired, for instance, by one of the most common place of household fixtures of Abidjan, mat interwoven with both natural and plastic cords, Nana was the first to create the "debbe" or basket weave look. If imitation is the best compliment, then she already earned a nomination for a national award since the hallmark creation of hers that is now turning heads all over the country. Her artistic talent continued to be evident while in the University of Abidjan, when she began braiding the hair of her classmates to supplement her studies.

Only years after she coming to America, she opened Nana's Hair Braiding Salon, the first beauty salon in Boston specializing only in braiding. She quickly became popular on a word to mouth advertisement, as all her customers were so pleased with her job that they started sending her their family or anyone who stopped them on the street for a compliment. Then some local newspapers, local magazines, national and international beauty magazines, TV channels, etc., started to write articles about Nana's Hair Braiding. Nana's masterpieces have been proudly shown in international contests, celebrations, beauty fashion shows, etc. Soon, Nana started to teach braiding classes where she eventually hired the braiders working for her, some on a full time basis and some on call. Today Nana's Hair Braiding is known to be the best hair braiding salon in Massachusetts with her braiders continuing to excel all expectations.
