Amtrak. Relax, sleep and eat form Naperville, Illinois to California on the train. The only thing you need to do on this 50 plus hour trip is to arrive in the dining car in time to eat. Passengers come prepared to relax: some watch movies on personal DVD players, others play games. The observation car provides opportunities to capture moments as scenery changes. Many people in the observarion car talk and laugh while sipping their favorite drink. The sound of the train seems to lull others to sleep. For me it's a chance to read with few distractions. Below the observation car is a place to buy snacks and beverages, so you won't go hungry. The prices are not too high. The dining car food is delicious. All meals are included with a sleeping car. Meals are a good portion size and they have a pretty good menu. When dining you get to meet other passengers because they sit four to a table. I have always had enjoyable conversation with my fellow diners. The sleeping car is stocked with water and the attendant prepares your bed. We had bunk beds but they do have larger rooms. Sleeping on an Amtrak bed is comfortable. But you might want an extra blanket, it gets cool in the middle of the night. All in all, I say, try it once. I was a reluctant traveller who enjoyed it.

Neat and clean railway station and best to go to downtown. Parking is a bit an issue. When we travelled in train from this station in May 2013, amazed to find only a few staff. Must improve parking. Rest rooms by now migh have already improved.

Beautiful and not complicated. Cheap parking if you know where to park. Can be pretty packed during rush hour.
