Opened in January of 2011 as a multicultural representation of beauty and wellness, Natural Alternatives Salon delivers exceptional results to all ethnicity clientele who are looking to care and nurture their natural hair (hair in it’s original state) with an ALTERNATIVE style and sensibility to clients who admire individual beauty. I just got a phone call, which was supposedly not personal about my child's readiness to be in the salon. I'm sorry, but I felt very offended. She is tender headed, but eventually she would get accustomed the same way I did. I understand that it may possibly delay time for other clients, but no one respected that during our first visit we waited an hour pass our appointment time because the stylist wanted to re do someone's hair that was done. Not only that someone's daughter at the shop removed my daughter's extra 15 minutes scheduled, because she wanted hair color that none of the stylists even wanted to do...but she came in. Info I shouldn't have been privy to, if things were professional. I never do reviews, but this it too much.

I've had the pleasure of experiencing this salon and I must note It is beautifully decorated and kept, the atmosphere is nice. My issue is i don't know if the stylists at this salon see what they have. Not many African American salons specifically catering to natural hair have the look, feel, and values this salon has...potential is here to become THE top salon in Louisville. I rarely leave my city and have went to many different salons, even those that cater to natural hair here. I consistently hear my friends and co-workers say they want a salon like the ones they've seen in other cities... the opportunity for that is here! I don't know if you all get that or not but I truly feel you have "IT"....I just can't see it in the stylist attitudes or the women who were at the front desk. I had the opportunity through an event to explore the new location. I was floored by how beautiful it is, from the front desk to seating area for the dryers. My hope is that the stylist here walk into that new location and see the vision and potential there. As African American women our experiences with salons are normally full of waiting, gossip, mediocre decor and customer service. The feeling I got walking into that new salon was one full of excitement. I wanted to experience full service treatment there, I just don't know if the current stylist at your salon have what It takes. I saw them on cell phones with personal calls or on social media. Your missing two stars is due to staff because the place is superb otherwise. The end result is usually ok but I know it's so much more here, so much vision and potential. Please see what this place could be for us (your customers)and the city. Bring to life what it seems the place is trying to convey...a professional salon experience!

My first visit to the salon was very nice. My stylist Alanna was awesome,she gave me the petfect wedding hairstyle exactly like the pic she was shown. Thank you so much

Very professional staff! Shavonne is very knowledgeable about natural hair, tending to my locs and my daughter's natural hair! 5 stars for sure!

Love this place! Cute, quaint shop with very personable staff who take great care of you. I've never had to wait long before getting my hair started, and I'm not in the shop being styled for hours and hours while they start and finish other people before finishing me...that whole thing that a lot of shops do. Not here! They start you and they finish you; I LOVE IT! Regina is my favorite; fantastic stylist and great to talk to. I highly recommend this salon.
