North Bergen Police Department welcomes you to our official Facebook Page. Our number one priority is the community we serve.
On behalf of the 120 men and women of the North Bergen Police Department (NBPD) it is my pleasure to welcome you to our official Facebook Page. The number one priority of the North Bergen Police Department is to foster a collective efficacy in our neighborhoods for the purpose of promoting the safety and stability of our community. We are committed to utilizing the latest technology, coupled with a philosophy of community policing, in an effort to provide the most efficient, effective and professional delivery of police services.
Members of the NBPD are working harder than ever before. I am proud to report that in 2015, NBPD Officers responded to over 100,000 calls for police service, while at the same time, our street robberies decreased by nearly 50 percent, and reports of home burglaries are the lowest number in our recorded history. Our police department focuses on improvements in the quality of life that affect our residents, businesses, and visitors. The NBPD has many specialized units created to focus on both the general and forensic investigation of crime as well as other issues within our township.
The dedicated men and women of the North Bergen Police Department work tirelessly in an effort to reduce crime in North Bergen and are encouraged to cultivate a partnership with the community we serve. We have employed the use of over 100 state of the art CCTV cameras that are monitored in real-time 24 hours a day. These CCTV cameras function as a force-multiplier and enable our patrol division to respond to incidents with a high degree of efficiency and effectiveness. Here in North Bergen you may see officers walking the beat, patrolling on motorcycles, bicycles, or in marked police cars. Other officers you may not see work in plain clothes or an undercover capacity. From time to time, we also have officers on loan to state and federal agencies as well as the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Municipal Task Force.
Overall, the men and women of the North Bergen Police Department are dedicated to serving our community to the best of our ability. Many of our police officers, including myself, are not only employed by the township but are proud to call North Bergen our home. The NBPD expects to obtain Accreditation from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police in June of this year. It is with the full support of Mayor Nicholas J. Sacco, Public Safety Commissioner Allen Pascual, and the entire Board of Commissioners that the North Bergen Police Department is properly equipped, trained, and fully committed to ensuring that the Township of North Bergen is a great place to live, work and visit. I encourage you to browse our web site for further information. If you have you any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at (201) 392-2100.
Very truly yours,
Robert J. Dowd.
