About

The North Carolina Community Health Center Association (NCCHCA) is a private, non-profit membership association that represents safety-net providers in NC.

Story

Formed in 1978 by the leadership of community health centers, NCCHCA is comprised of membership from each of the 33 health center grantees, 1 Look-alike organization, aspiring health centers and other partners. These health center grantees and Look-alikes operate 177 clinical sites and served over 466,000 patients in 2012.

The North Carolina Community Health Center Association was created to advance the common mission of health centers across the state. NCCHCA represents the interests of North Carolina’s health centers to federal, state, and local agencies and officials. The Association also seeks support from foundations, corporations, and other private entities to increase access to primary health care for all North Carolinians. NCCHCA’s staff serves on state and national coalitions and task forces to foster collaboration, leverage resources, and avoid duplication of services.

NCCHCA is a valuable resource to health centers, providing training and technical assistance in areas such as clinical service delivery, governance, workforce development, and administration. NCCHCA regularly presents workshops, trainings, and conferences to keep health center staff on the cutting edge of effective and cost-efficient service delivery. The Association consistently analyzes key issues facing health centers and provides our members with critical information in a timely fashion. In addition, the Association helps communities to create new health centers or expand existing ones.
