Electronically filed my state taxes in January, it is now April and my refund is still in stage one.... what. the. heck.? Spoke with rep #1320016 today and she was VERY NICE and obviously helpful to the best of her ability but still no answer as to why this is and let me know it would be another couple of weeks before I find anything out.

when i check my refund status online, it says there are 3 stages. it take 15 days to move to the next stage blah blah... it been 2 months a few days. Still stage 1 !!!! very bad, poor system. move fast a bit.

The customer service representative #1332459, was helpful and quite friendly. She used extreme professionalism and answered my queries with enthusiasm and grace. I think most people don't realize that their attitudes influence and effect their interaction with customer service agents. These lovely individuals are not paid to be abused, screamed at or blamed for state legislation and tax laws. They are tax paying residents of North Carolina and simply are available to us to answer our questions to the best of their ability. Maybe showing class and not your ar*e may get you better results with interpersonal communication. Also, I would like to commend the State on hiring second level agent #1332163 and third level agent #1332272. Both of those ladies were fantastic and very patient with me answering a variety of inquiries!!!

Why can't we download a copy of our current year Sales and Use / Resale certificate from the website? This seems like a pretty basic function a business owner should be able to complete in 2018.

Everything about filing a tax return in North Carolina is the worst (Because the filer is an itinerant artist with income and sales tax filing requirements in several states and with residence elsewhere, we have basis for comparison). The forms are terrible and confusing for non-resident filers; the customer service is unhelpful; the return time for refunds is the longest of any.
