Our beautful family-friendly cabin resort is surrounded by wilderness in a secluded bay on 16 acres, with nearly ¼ mile of shoreline. Lake Kabetogama (Ka-be-tow-ga-ma) is one of a chain of wilderness Border Lakes with majestic scenery and part of Voyageurs National Park on the Minnesota, Ontario border. From our dock, there are 65 miles of uninhabited, road-less wilderness waterways with hundreds of islands, bays, coves, rock bluffs and gorges. There are 19 other remote hike in or fly in lakes with a variety of fishing and lots of adventure. Many say we have the best fishing in Minnesota!

Our cabins are loved by the ladies and those particular about their comforts, while kids love our sandy beach, Floating Water Park and our weekly Youth Quest. We offer excellent, high quality boats and pontoons equipped with GPS for safe boating.

Second to none.  Northern Lights Resort is not only a resort. it's an experience!  It's an experience that I know I will always cherish and hold close.  Different seasons offer different sights, smells, and adventures.  My adventure was this past May and the crab apple trees and lilacs on the grounds were in full bloom, baby fox were outside their den playing in the sun, pelicans and bald eagles soaring from all directions, and spectacular sunsets unlike any I have ever seen.  The sunsets stretch all across the lake and seem to last for hours on those long summer evenings.  With the fishing quickly heating up, there were loads of anglers hauling in their evening catch of walleyes and northern pike.  From being an avid saltwater fisherman, one of my favorite things to do is wait by the docks and see what people come in with at the end of day, this being no different.  Lastly, I grew up going to rustic northern Minnesota cabins from Alexandria to Ely but never have I imagined such an amazing resort such as this...no joke!  The cabins and amenities are top notch but most importantly the owners and staff treat you as family and will do anything to make your trip as stress free as possible.  Tracy and Steve run a  world-class operation and no doubt you will always have great memories of Northern Lights Resort etched into you heart!  Simply amazing!

A really classy place. The owners really aim to please. They care about the customers & work constantly to make your stay fun & memorable. A beautiful location on an enormous National Park / lake.

If you want a 5 star get away, this is it and look no further. The hospitality starts before you arrive with calls and email to remind you how to prepare for this weeks adventure. With only one vacation a year, they make sure your ready. The cabins are all but rustic. The Lindstrom's have 13 "cabins" that are all beautifully  maintained both inside and out. The kitchens are fully stocked for any type of food prep. The beds are comfortable and the  lake sunsets are fabulous. You can bring a boat and slips are available  and reserved for as long as you want or travel lighter and rent one of their many boats/pontoons. 
I've looked at a few other resorts around this area and cant find anything that compares. If your looking for comfort,  attentive staff and a family atmosphere with great camaraderie, this is the place.

Absolutely PERFECT and so very delightful.  Staff and owners are PHENOMENAL!!!!  Customer service is by far, by FAR,  the BEST I've ever experienced at a resort.  Every team member is kind and everyone shows you  individual attention. I can't say enough good things about NLRO.  Anyone that comes to NLRO will not be disappointed. .....you will be thrilled.

My family and I took a vacation here last week.  We had a very good time in no small part due to Northern Lights Resort.  They took care of everything, including cleaning our fish!  We will be coming back I assure you.
