Story

Nyack Beach State Park is a 61acre state park in Upper Nyack, Rockland County, New York. It consists of a small parking lot and a riverfront pathway, the southernmost section of the Hudson River Valley Greenway. It is known for its physical proximity to the Hudson River on one side of the pathway and the looming cliffs of the Palisades rising 700ft above on the other side. The park is included within the Palisades Interstate Park system and is functionally part of a continuous complex of parks that also includes Rockland Lake State Park, Hook Mountain State Park, and Haverstraw Beach State Park.HistoryThe Palisades Interstate Park Commission purchased what was to become Nyack Beach State Park in 1911 to provide space for recreation, and to protect the land from the effects of quarrying that were impacting the Hudson River Palisades during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.Along with a portion of adjacent Hook Mountain State Park, Nyack Beach was declared a National Natural Landmark in April 1980 for its portion of the Palisades Sill.

Wonderful park. Great for all ages and interests. Well maintained and with a very scenic husdon backdrop. Mild-moderate hills are good for walkers, runners and cyclists. Fishing. Adequate parking, working bathrooms and water fountain, picnic tables, community grills. Both woods hiking and on well defined trail.

BRING CASH, parking is NOT free during the week I believe, and they do NOT accept credit cards. Overall a fantastic place for a run, walk, or bike. The trails are well maintained and run alongside the Hudson for a major portion.

Great place to enjoy walking along the Hudson. Nice views of the Tappanzee bridge and the Palisades bluffs.

I grew up coming to this park. I still go occasionally. Perfect for a picnic and walk if you don't want to go to any of the crowded parks. Very nice view.

Great place to go for a tranquil walk, between the river and the mountains. You can also go with a bike for a ride. It's not a place where you go into nature, there is a path. Almost no people.
