What I love about reviews are people are allowed to say whatever they like without reprisal or 'fact' checking. I first laughed when I saw a review saying anyone at this establishment is racist!! Then I got angry, as I am sure like any mom and pop type establishment, it's hard to stay in business! First off, don't 'assume' you've met the owner just because he's behind the counter! You know what they say about assuming... it makes an _ _ _ out of u & me!! Secondly, I know the two main guys that work there and BELIEVE ME, they are not racist!! This is a GREAT place to visit and shop! It's like stepping back in time when people actually took pride in their products and had home grown vegetables, and canned goods. It is just a feel good place and yes they have too many different kinds of tamales to name; but as a tamale connoisseur, I know a good one from a bad one & these are some of the best in this area!! Some of these people doing the 'reviews' aren't located in Texas & or even in this Country!! Don't take any review's word for it... go and visit for yourself and promote local business whenever and wherever possible!

I'm going to go about this as professional as possible. I'm not one to usually leave a bad review. But this place has forced me to post this. When I initially walked in I was greeted kindly, I was also thanked for my service since I was in uniform. The man behind the counter offered his products and began to tell me about a cousin of his still serving in the Army. This is where the conversation went south. He began to explain how his cousin was sent to the Mexican border to protect our country. He elaborated that what they should do with the Mexicans when caught is to put them on "chain gang and work them 6 days a week 12 hour days building the wall"..... I'm sure he realized he had offended me at this point since he continued to spew derogatory remarks as I walked out of the door. Look, I agree there needs to be a wall built but the disregard to human decency in his words were aphauling. I am a Mexican 1st generation American, both of my parents immigrated to this amazing country to better their lives. They got their citizenship and pay their taxes like everyone else. I have gave 10 years of my life to this country. But not to that guy in this establishment. I understand there is still racism in this country and I am a true conservative but this store owner hit a nerve that I cannot express in words. Good luck to you sir, may God bless. But I will never step foot nor purchase anything from this business.

This place has a nice old timey feel to it. The red pepper beef jerky is the best jerky I have ever had. The spicy pickled eggs are also very tasty. The tamales are OK but a bit pricey. However they have a huge selection of tamales that even include dessert types. It's definitely worth a stop if you have never been. The old man behind the counter has some far right ideas and likes to offer his opinions on certain touchy political subjects. I just tend to nod and get my products and go. He's harmless really but I can see some getting offended.

Ol' Gringo Tamale Company has thirty five different flavors of tamales to include Buffalo, Elk, Venison, Quail, Kobe beef, Alligator...pork, beef, chicken, vegetarian, vegan, sweet tamales and et cetera. They have jellies, jams, pickled foods, farm raised beef (ribeyes, bacon wrapped filets and strip steaks). They sell premium jerky and summer sausages in beef, buffalo, elk and venison.

The tamale's are the best for frozen, ready to eat later. I also loved the Verde salsa and chowchow. They have many canned items that you have been looking for.
