Old Town Hot Springs

About

Old Town Hot Springs, one of Colorado's premier hot springs, is a multi-use complex, open to the public. The facility is open seven days a week with eight, hot spring-fed pools, two seasonal waterslides, a fitness center, and massage.

Story

Old Town Hot Springs is an historic hot spring and recreational facility in the heart of Steamboat Springs, Colo. It is a family friendly facility, which has been a location for recreation and rejuvenation for visitors and locals alike for over 100 years. The swimming and soaking pools served as a gathering and bathing place for the Ute Indians who first settled in the area. Then in the late 1800s, it was a social spot and a bathing place for the early homesteaders.

The Old Town Hot Springs sits at an elevation of 6,700 feet and offers eight pools, including two 230-foot waterslides, a new 3,000 square foot hot activity pool, an aquatic rock climbing wall, refurbished Heart Spring pool, eight lap lanes and more. It is a multi-use complex open seven days a week, year-round.

The famous Heart Spring is the source of all of the water in the pools. It pumps approximately 150 gallons per minute and comes out of the ground like an artesian well, meaning naturally without the use of pumps. The water then runs into an overflow system filling each of the pools. The pools range from 82 degrees to 103 degrees. Bathing suits are required. The pools are handicap accessible.

The Old Town Hot Springs has a Fitness Center with weights and a cardiovascular area, also offering exercise classes. You can get a massage. Locker rooms, a snack bar, and childcare are also available. Suits and towels are available for rent. You can play tennis in the summer or rent the new upper deck for a party.
The Old Town Hot Springs is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, located in downtown Steamboat, just three blocks to a café, store, service station, and motel, as well as two miles to overnight camping and RV hookups. Credit Cards are accepted.
Location: On the north side of US 40, at the east edge of the City of Steamboat Springs.

Super pleased with our decision to FINALLY check this place out. We've always known about it but usually head to Strawberry Hot Springs instead. Well, now we have a toddler and decided to check this place out instead. What a pleasant surprise. Multiple options of pools to try out, clean facilities for changing and lots of space to hang out inside. They offer a stamp so you can go in the morning and come back later in the day! Worth it.

Neat experience to do. Went when it was snowing and 20 degrees out. Little expensive but worth doing once. Bring quarters for lockers, flip flops and your own towel. Lots of families from 3-6 and kids have a blast. Evening is cheaper check their website. Great place after a hard day on the slopes.

Really nice facility with outdoor hot springs and many of them. Also work out and exercise room which is first class. Very reasonable price for admission. I would strongly recommend this place.

A great place to bring the family to. We enjoyed the main pool as well as some of the surrounding pools. They didn’t miss much at this place. There are two water slides, a rock climbing waterfall, a lap pool, a gym, and several smaller hot pots for you to soak in. We used the family changing area/ restroom and were happy to see that it was clean. They will make change for you at the front desk for lockers. Pools were nice. Don’t go expecting anything greater than 105 degrees. If I recall correctly in Iceland they were much hotter. I would prefer if people were required to shower before entering but hey this is America and someone would get offended. The water slides are an extra $7 per head and were fun. There are only 2 slides but they were fun enough to not feel like you needed more. Unlimited slides for the day if you buy the pass.

We visited Old Town Hot Springs, it was $72 for our family of 5 and more than half of the pools were closed. We knew the waterslides had very limited hours but we didn’t know the decks and the kiddie pool areas would also be closed. So we paid $72 to use one pool and two hot tubs and it felt like a rip-off. The website did not tell us so much would be closed- at least not that I could find. We went on April 1st. I think if everything was open, it would be a solid 5 stars because the place is really neat! But with our experience, we felt like suckers having paid so much and the kids got bored after an hour and a half.
