I'll admit, I'm not a baked goods kinda girl. That being said, Olsen's is somewhat of a staple when you visit Solvang so it would be criminal not to drop in for a quick bite. Very busy and the choice of pastries is next level! My boyfriend and I shared a Dutch pastry with cream (not fresh cream but the other kind which I've always thought was super disgusting). I had two bites and left it for him. The chocolate covered strawberries my friend got were absolutely delicious as was the coconut covered, soft pastry. Like I said, not into baked goods/sweet things, perhaps I'd have enjoyed it more if I was.

I love fresh pastries. Olsen's is a must. Grab a box of their butter cookies to take home and share, if they make it home. We went to the Hans Christian Anderson museum and they had a kransekage as a sample. Had never tried one and I asked the lady there where it came from. She said Olsen's and that's my new favorite pastry. It's a marzipan flavored piece of happiness.

Olsen's bakery is something you should stop by when you're visiting solvang. You get the danish feel for pastries and coffee. Very amazing breakfast.

Crisp & crackling crust on even the humblest of buns. Light flaky fluffy pastries. I make a point to hit this place every time I'm visiting Santa Barbara.

They did have very authentic cookies that we bought. We got almond cookies, butter cookies, and Swedish delight. That was what my father who used to live in Copenhagen for almost a year told me. So that, we visited Solvang village during our road trip from L.A. to San Francisco, and the town was a must-go place. The bakery was busy as we came. They provided some free samples too. I wish I had more time to enjoy the atmosphere here really, had some butter cookies and drank a cup of European coffee. Definitely will recommend this place.
