We are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit dedicated to sharing Oregon's fire service history, honoring those in fire service and providing fire safety education.
Since ancient times, the people and technology used to fight fires have played an integral role in society. Thus, the equipment and apparatus associated with firefighting are part of a greater story that should be passed from one generation to the next. The Oregon Fire Service Museum, Memorial and Learning Center is dedicated to sharing Oregon's rich history of structural and wildland fire service, providing and promoting public fire safety education for all ages, and honoring those in fire service. By preserving, restoring, and displaying fire service artifacts, the statewide museum will tell the story of evolving fire prevention and suppression technology. Additionally, the museum plans to collect personal stories and biographical information about the people involved in fire service to aid genealogists, historians, and others in their research. Currently the museum is raising funds and finalizing plans to construct a permanent museum facility at Antique Powerland, a community of heritage museums in Brooks, Oregon near I-5 and Salem. The initial phase of construction will create a firehouse museum building reflecting the architecture of a 1920s two-bay, two-story firehouse with single story education wings. Behind the fire station, a showroom will accommodate a portion of the museum's collection of antique and vintage fire apparatus. Further phased construction will add a memorial plaza, additional vehicle showroom space, and a restoration workroom. The museum shall strive to provide accessibility for all visitors.
The mission of the Oregon Fire Service Museum is to establish and maintain a statewide fire museum to share the story of structural and wild land fire service, past, present and future, to honor those in fire service, and to provide fire safety education for all ages.
