Story

The Pantry Restaurant has been a Santa Fe landmark since 1948. We offer a unique take on a diner, where the cuisine of Northern New Mexico meets traditional American food.

We have been serving quality fresh from scratch comfort food for over sixty years. You will be pleased with our fast and friendly service while enjoying the best chile in Santa Fe. The place was clean. All the staff was very polite, nice & attentive. The food was very good w/good proportions that were filling. I had the chicken fried steak n eggs w/papas & blue corn pancakes on the side. Chicken fried steak was an actual cut of meat & not hamburger and my 1st try of blue corn hotcakes was great. Super light & fluffy served with hot syrup (wish it was maple) & REAL butter.

Great food and friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Back a week later - whoops, gotta go, food is here. OK, I'm back. Today's fare was more traditional diner food - bacon, eggs and the to-be-recommended open face turkey sandwich. The over easy eggs were perfectly cooked with no runny egg whites anywhere in sight, but with a nice yolk. The bacon 🥓 was crisp and not greasy. Not much one can do to ruin a turkey sandwich but the pantry does make it better with fresh veggies, a nice gravy and very good mashed potatoes. The traditional NM inspired dishes are quite nice too although the smothered burger is a bit too smothered for my liking. Certainly worth the wait. Many of the patrons are regulars with a few tourists that were smart enough to read the reviews. Waitstaff is very friendly and helpful. They don't mind taking special requests.

It's a diner/Mexican restaurant. The menu will identify the diner vibe with chicken fried steak. You can also get the usual Mexican combo plate as well. It was good comfort food. I didn't eat there for breakfast which is what everyone raves about. The staff was very friendly.

-The Portions are smaller than you'd expect for the price. -My cheese enchilada with added chicken had no cheese inside. -Tortillas were clearly store bought. -Service was nice and friendly. -Chips and salsa were pretty good but not complimentary. -Overall, everyone in my group was very disappointed with the food and felt the ratings are overinflated.

Delicious food! We had the breakfast burrito with green Chile and pork. It was a generous portion and the price was reasonable. The service is affable. It's a good idea to get there early because even on a Wednesday morning, the wait was a half hour for two. They have quite a few dishes that look worth trying out and a couple of the patrons I spoke to said everything was good!
