We officially open for dinner @ 5pm instead of 5:30pm! We recommend you to make DINNER RESERVATIONS but we always welcome walk-ins.

Story



The Shed, a dining institution since 1953 is located on Palace Avenue just east of the plaza. Look for the small, vividly colored wooden sign that marks the entrance. The restaurant occupies nine quiet rooms behind Prince Patio, a sunny brick and flagstone courtyard shaded by trumpet vines and adorned with roses in the summer. Customers can downshift a couple of centuries and have one of the more satisfying experiences Santa Fe has to offer --

We offer locals and visitors alike a time tested taste of the best that Northern New Mexico has to offer both in cuisine and hospitality. We are a family owned and operated business now under the management of the 3rd generation of Carswells. Visitors and locals returning to Santa Fe don't feel like they have arrived in Santa Fe until they have tasted the Shed chile once again.

Additionally, please visit our sister restaurant La Choza. La Choza opened in 1983 and is thriving in the dynamic Santa Fe railyard.

Went here on a whim with a group of co-workers (visiting from Canada). The service was attentive, the food came out quickly and all meals were delicious. I had the Green Chile Burrito. It was perfectly spicy, and for a non-meat protein meal, very filling - portions were very generous. The hacienda is quaint and perfect, and since the shed is tucked away in a courtyard it feels like you’ve stumbled upon a local gem.

If you're looking for an Eclectic place with great atmosphere and excellent food. This is it. You will need to bring your own entertainment in the form of your companion due to the business of this place. Don't expect an overwhelmed staff to be able to keep you entertained! The margaritas are great. In order to get a table when they open you generally need to be there an hour ahead of time.

Delicious food! We arrived at 6 on a Thursday in March for dinner and there was a 30 minute wait. Queso portion was small but tasty. Very spicy sauce on most of the food. Would definitely return!

There was a 30 minute wait, but the service was good. We had the soups on this cold day. The pozole was really good, the mushroom was excellent and the green chili pork soup was extremely spicy. I couldn't finish the green chili soup. The silver coin margarita was good and strong. Cute, trendy little place .

Worst service I have ever received in my entire life. I sat a the bar and was completely ignored for 20 minutes. The bartender (male bartender 12/7/17 @ 8PM) talked to everyone but me and even cleared and cleaned empty areas of the bar and would not even look at me. I was sitting right in the middle of the bar and trying to make eye contact (the bar probably has 8 seats max- hard to miss someone). I finally yelled over to him to ask him if I could order food and a drink, and he rolled his eyes at me. He forgot my drink order, then he brought me the wrong meal and had to take it back, and then he charged my card TWICE. I’m now trying to get the second charge removed from my card. This place is overrated.. I can’t believe how bad it was. I’ve worked as a server for 12 years and can totally understand when it’s crazy busy or someone’s just having a bad day; this was neither- he was just extremely rude and bad at his job. Do not go here!!!!!!!!
