We recently adopted a puppy from Petland in Round Lake. We have never gotten a puppy at a pet store before, always through a breeder, but she was special and we just couldn't walk away. I had been watching her on their site for a couple of weeks before we made the decision to go and meet her. When we did, I called and talked to Matt who was so kind and answered all of my questions about her, the breed...everything. He asked if I wanted to make an appointment to come in and meet her. When I said I wasn't sure, there was no pressure. When we came in later that night (I called back to make the appointment) we met with Christine. She was just as kind and talked us through all that we needed to know. True, some of the products we purchased were a bit expensive, which I expect from a small local pet store, but I never felt I was being sold something I didn't need...the puppy's best interests ALWAYS came first to Christine (and Matt). We are thrilled with our puppy and it's obvious she was cared for and well socialized during her time there. Best decision we could've made!

Every time I have gone here which is about 3 times now. I have had some sort of problem. I was just here right before Christmas to get fish for my daughter and the costumer service was horrible. When I asked several question they either didn't know the answer and didn't care to find out or was just being rude and didn't want to do their jobs. Also the person helping had forgot one of the things they grabbed for me and instead of him going to get it he told me where he left it and had me do it while he stood there talking to his co worker about what his plans for Xmas were!!!!!!! Aside from that I had bought a ball python from here which died 2 days later due to a "muscle defect" is what they said which I don't see how because they said she would have not been able to move and she did move, perfectly fine. As well as fish which are still alive lol.

Cute puppies... They are HORRIBLY OVERPRICED, and wont budge one cent on price. They use sloppy sales tactics, and tell you that specific breed wont last. 5 Minutes on the internet can save you a couple grand. They also force you to buy a cage and other stuff and tell you they dont care if you have a cage its part of the price so you have to take it. The breeder i found for german shepherds offered me papers on the parents, saved me over $1200 and came with 12 weeks of training. No brainer for me.

I went to g look at some puppies with my daughter considering getting her a puppie for christmas, but they started rushing me . I asked an employye he said no that they only helping out the people that are seriously buying. I was actually going t buy one if he would of waited she couldve had a sale .

!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY FROM PETLAND!!!!!!! Stay away from this petland location. Buy straight from a breeder if you can. Do some research before buying a breeder too, our labrador retriever came from a breeder here in Illinois and is recognized as one of the worst breeders in the country. I financed my puppy here. They sell dogs that come with major health issues. My dog was home for two days before he developed kennel cough then that developed into pneumonia. It's almost like petland knows that this will happen because when you finance your pet petland covers the medical bill within the first few months of ownership! I was reassured many times before going home with my pet that they (petland) would cover medical costs... WEIRD!!!!! They will only pay for one vet which is out in spring Grove. My little guy was hospitalized for 4 days and put on 5 different medications. I am very thankful he survived. Since he had severe pneumonia, it stunted his growth. Reading all the reviews from this place, it seems to be the common theme.!!!!!!!!!DO NOT BUY FROM PETLAND!!!!! I feel bad for the others customers with similar problems. This place needs to be SUED TIL THEY ARE OUT OF BUSINESS. THEY SELL PUPPIES FROM PUPPY MILLS!!! go there, find a puppy you like and ask to see the breeder information, Google the name of the breeder and you will see.
