Story

Pets First Veterinary Clinic is an integrative, full service animal clinic that offers both conventional and holistic approaches to pet health with a focus on compassionate care for every stage of life. Dr. Chitra Natarajan, or Dr. C as she is known by her clients, has over 15 years of experience as a veterinarian and truly loves her work. She created Pets First Chicago as a way to offer a caring and calming veterinary experience for people and their pets. All of the treatments and diagnoses are discussed and she always offers as many options as possible.

I’ve been taking companion animals to vets for over 30 years and I’ve never met a kinder, attentive, dedicated, knowledgeable, patient or more compassionate doctor than Dr. Mitchell! He’s our “cat whisperer.” He never rushes through appointments and personally calls back to give test results or simple check up on how they are doing. As long as doctor Mitchell is here I will never take my cats (or dog(s) whenever I adopt one or some!) anywhere else! 

The staff is also incredible! The office staff and vet techs are also extremely friendly, helpful and caring. 

Additionally, Pets First is also extremely transparent when it comes to costs/fees, as they always offer to give you line-by-line printed cost estimates when addition tests or procedures may be considered. So, I’ve never once been “surprised” at the last minute as I have at other veterinary offices. 

I’ve been to MANY veterinarians throughout Chicago, and, in my opinion, Dr. Mitchell and Pets First are one of, if not THE BEST, veterinary practice in Chicago!

Dr. Schnabl is a wonderful vet who really takes the time to listen to the pet owner's concerns!  He examined my elderly cat, ran some tests, and displayed a great willingness to work on helping her.  It is obvious that he loves his work & helping animals.  I highly recommend him!

Our favourite vet (Dr Mitchell) is here!  The rest of the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable also.  It may be a bit more expensive than other places and parking can be problematic, but the care you receive makes it worth your while.

Sadly, our family dog has been very sick recently. We've taken her to Pets First and I've been happy with the care and love they gave our dog each time. Highly recommended for your animal friend.

We have been taking our dog to Pets First since we adopted him in June of 2016. They are incredibly caring and helpful.  Yes--the first appointment should be made BEFORE your pet needs urgent care as it takes a week or more to get in for your first visit (because they prioritize their established patients' urgent needs).  After you have had the first visit, you can quickly get an appointment if your pet is sick/injured/etc.  The vets & techs treat your pets as family.  Great place to go.
