Established in 1978, the award winning Piece of Cake Bakery in Sellwood, Portland is owned and run by Marilyn DeVault. The bakery offers a full range of cakes, cupcakes and desserts, including vegan, gluten-free, wheat-free and sugar free options.

A staple bakery for my vegan sweet tooth. I used to live a block away and look forward to their lemon raspberry coconut vegan cupcake and delicious vegan cake slices after hard days of work. In the summer their outdoor swinging chair is perfect to hang out, munch and people watch. Not the most affordable but very delectable and kind employees and owner.

I needed a boob cake for a friend who was celebrating her breast reduction.  They were quick, worked with us on all the details and the cake was delicious.  The Bye-Bye Boobies party wouldn't have been the same with the J-cup sized boob cake.

i don't understand how this establishment is so highly regarded. the owner is very rude, the location dirty and cluttered and the cake very bad. maybe vegans have a hugely reduced threshold for the quality of their cake, but i personally don't enjoy mealy, dry, dense, tacky, pestilentially sweetened pastries in unexciting or plain gross flavors. there were raisins in my cupcake? with its proximity to the excellent grand central bakery i really can't recommend against it strongly enough.

The story: I was having a specialty cake made for my sister's 40th birthday when my friend's bakery couldn't make the cake a week before because of injury. In a frantic panic, I called about 20 bakeries and Marilyn called me back, saying "I want to help you." She was incredibly helpful and I ended up with the most hilarious (can't post a picture, it wouldn't be appropriate), delicious cake my sister and her friends will never forget. The cake was a chocolate espresso buttercream and it was amazing: moist, flavorful without being too rich (nicely balanced) and the best damn cake I could have hoped for. Thank you SO much, Piece of Cake, for saving me in my time of need and giving me the best cake EVER.

The best Bakery in Portland to buy gluten free dairy fee caked.  They are yummy.  My 9 year old son loves them and can't tell the difference between the GF/DF and normal cake.
