For tasty comfort food in a fun and friendly atmosphere, look no further than The Plaza Cafe Downtown. Our historic diner is conveniently located in downtown Santa Fe in the same location we started at in 1905. We proudly offer locals and visitors alike an authentic New Mexican dining experience. You’ll be taken back in time when you enter our 30s-style diner, with comfortable booths and counter seating available. With flavors and cuisine that spans the globe, our menu has something for every palate.

From traditional American favorites and Mexican cuisine to greek food and more, you won’t leave Plaza Cafe hungry. All of our food is made from scratch daily using the finest ingredients available, from our home-baked bread and and grass-fed beef burgers to our pancakes, Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas and more. Came in on a Sunday afternoon, they weren't too busy. The service was very speedy and friendly. We all ordered different entrees and all were tasty. I ordered a Greek salad with meat, however when the meat arrived it was closer to strips of beef jerky on my salad, super dry and crispy. Not what I expected. My husband ordered a pita but he said his meat was not dry. This was typical diner food and a comparative price for Santa Fe. If you are visiting from out of town, I would rather eat native New Mexican, where the Chile is fresh and not a American/Greek mash-up.

I arrived here at 4:00pm and there were only about 5 tables occupied. The hostess sat me at a table with a menu. About ten minutes later I had to get up to find someone to serve me. After putting in my order I waited another ten minutes for my food to arrive and then I didn't see anyone else until after I finished my food. I had to ask a waiter passing by to take my credit card as my waiter was across the room talking with another staff about the weather or some other irrelevant subject. The waiter I gave my card to signaled to my waiter, interrupting his conversation, to take my card. I ordered the spicy fish and chips. Both the fish and the fries were over cooked! I would not recommend this place to my dog! There are much better establishments in Santa Fe that make this place seem like a soup kitchen for the homeless.

Delicious breakfast! Breakfast burrito and french toast was out of this world yummy. Service was friendly and on top of things. Neat diner atmosphere right on the plaza.

So for some reason on google it shows this place as one dollar sign ($). It should really be three dollar signs ($$$). It is very expensive for a breakfast diner. $4.50 for a single pancake is ridiculous. The food was good, but the service was slow.

With all the restaurants in the area, we ended up eating here three times. Never had to wait even though it was always packed. Great apple caramel dessert!! Just a note - sweet & low and flavored creamer needed.
