I went to the Drive-Thru to cash a check and then deposit. I currently have a Virtual Wallet Performance Select Account and a Premier Money Market. All of my accounts are joint with my husband and both of our direct deposits are deposited to our VW account. The check I was cashing and then depositing to the account was payable to my husband. So, when I arrived to the Drive Thru, the back of the check was endorsed by husband with whom I have a joint account, and then I endorsed the back. I filled out the deposit ticket and referenced the deposit as a cash deposit. Upon retrieving my receipt, I noticed that the teller had deposited the item as a check deposit. I reached out to her and inquired as to why she did not deposit the item as cash. The teller stated she was unaware that, that was what I wanted done, so she requested that I "resend" my ID along with my debit card. It took approximately 5 minutes as she was tending to the inside customers before she came back to notify my that she would not be unable to cash the check but only deposit, that she would need my husband with whom I have a joint account with to be present with his identification. Let me remind you that I have been banking with PNC Bank for the past 5 years and have never experienced such. I asked the teller to reach out to her manager who informed me that they would not be able to cash the check because my husband need to be present. Long story short, rather than providing me an array of solutions/options the branch manager was exceptionally abrupt, non helpful nor customer oriented. I am not upset that he did not cash the check for one, I am however upset that PNC lacks in their consistency throughout their branches. The main reason we have maintained PNC, as our primary bank is because of their customer focus of understanding their customers' needs, their focus on seeking to deliver an exceptional experience and provide insight to help us achieve their financial goals. Let me say this experience was far from that. NONETHELESS, I reversed my car, pulled right into the ATM lane, and cashed the check.
