Point Mallard Park is a gem in Decatur, Alabama. This park was constructed originally in the 1970’s but has grown over the years to become an integral part of the community. The wave pool and ice skating rink were revolutionary to this part of the country in the 1970s. The location of the park on the Tennessee River makes for wonderful views from the hiking/bike trails and from the golf course and beach area. The water park is also fun in the summer.

Our grandchildren skate at the ice rink and have been regulars for years. It is a full size rink with both figure skating and hockey and the coaches are super. It would be an awesome place to get your kids involved in skating. The rest of Pt. Mallard is fun as well. They have a wave pool and water slides in the summer. There is an archery range, golf, campground, soccer fields and much more. If you haven't been to Point Mallard, you should check it out.

My favorite attraction is the lazy river. Especially when it is not packed with children. There is a wave pool that usually stays full. There is an Olympic size pool with diving boards, a slide and wheelchair access. Two layers of splash pads for the kiddos. Also several slide options. There are picnic tables and food options. Little pricey, but convenient. They usually run a sale on season passes around Christmas and in March.
