Portillo's NEVER fails to impress !!  There were  4 of us on this visit and we had a blast.  We had a couple of burgers, an Italian Beef and a Combo Beef and Sausage.  The kids said the burgers we're great.  Great grilled flavor and a large patty (1/3 lb.).  The Italian Beef was tender and flavorful.  I had the Combo and had it "wet".  Wow.  More flavors than one person should be able to handle.  The sausage was out of this world.  We also had fries and onion rings.  The fries were good but the onion rings were awesome.  Crispy and delicious.  Then there's the atmosphere.  It's way cool.  Very 1920's - 30's and the staff looks and plays the part very well.  Check out the pictures, there even an old car hanging from the ceiling !  I wish we lived closer to this place, but I'm also glad we don't because I would be WAY to much.  If you're in the are, heck, even if you're not, it will DEFINITELY be worth the trip .

Definitely lived up to the hype! This place is always busy and for good reason.

The exterior is very cool and bigger than I expected. Inside the restaurant are floor to ceiling pictures, decor, and signage. The line moves pretty quick, but it's still ideal to go at an off time.

The hot dogs are top notch, all beef, and juicy. The Italian Beef Sandwich with hot peppers and mozzarella is amazing, and ordering it "dipped" makes it a delicious mess (you need to be sitting for that one). I also got the fries with cheese sauce, which did not disappoint. They were crinkle cut with the right amount of crisp.

Good Italian and American fare at a decent price.  It should definitely be your place to go for burgers and hot dogs instead of the large franchises.  Due to its popularity be prepared for a wait if you order as a large group.

Update to previous review, got some chocolate cake for Valentine's, and my significant other said it was dry and not as good as usual.  Was surprised as their cake is normally excellent.

Sunday evening visit 6/25/2018. Ordered at 6:25 finally got food at 7:25.  Ribs were cold.  Ordered beef and cheddar croissant and didn’t get cheese on it and the bottom of the bread so soggy couldn’t pick it up.  Chicken tenders were good.  Hot dog ok bun soggy, Italian sausage excellent and the shakes and malts excellent.   Didn’t bring back to counter because we didn’t want to wait another hour.   We expected to wait but also expected better food.   Very disappointed after hearing all the hype on the place.   Maybe try again when the parking lot is near empty maybe then the food will be good.

All I can say about Portillo's is that the combo Italian beef with a sausage sandwich is amazing. The ribs are tender but very under flavored. I went to Portillo's two days in a row the one in Woodbury. I think the cashiers need to listen a little bit better. I understand I went at a lunch time and it was very crowded. But I spoke very loudly so I thought that the cashier would get my order right. But when I got my food it was wrong. And it was very hard to go up and exchange it for the right stuff that I ordered.
