I had my doubts when I saw the huge crowds of people, but I was pleasantly surprised. The lights seemed like they went on forever, with different themes. It was a complete winter wonderland without snow. The thing I liked the most, however was their walk through light exhibit. They also sold cheap hot chocolate, to add that little bit of holiday cheer to the beautiful but chilly walk.

We had a great time! Get there early, before it opens, so you don't have to wait too long. Bring our own hot chocolate for the car ride, and there is more at the Center area for $1, as well as coffee, apple cider, etc. The rides are free and the little ones loved them, and the walk through forest is neat and a good place to take pics. You can also buy tickets online for $5 off and just show the tickets on your phone at the gate, and can take up to 8 people in one car, which makes it a great value.

We used to live in Cedar Hill, which was close to the Prairie Lights. We would go every year and loved seeing how it improved and grew over the years. We would normally go on a week night when there were no crowds. We recently moved to Denton and the closest thing are the lights at the Texas Motor Speedway - but the one in Grand Prairie is so much better! So many lights, themed areas, the good stop in the middle with more lights and rides and such. This one really is THE BEST!

We decided to go see the lights AFTER Christmas this year and let me just tell you, it was so much more enjoyable!! No huge wait, no getting stuck behind someone wanting to just stop and take pictures, just all around much more peaceful and individually controlled!! There was NO SANTA however but that was the only thing we didn't get to see and we didn't mind because we did that elsewhere!

This is an amazing thing to take the kids too. It usually is the same every year minus a few sections but it is worth it to go at least once for sure.
