Each interaction that I’ve had with employees from PERAC individuals who actually work for the state agency has been a positive experience. Disability retirement specifics can become stressful AF, but everyone from PERAC I’ve directly communicated with about something has been friendly & helpful.
A reflection of a State agency that needs a rehaul. I'm a retired Firefighter on a disability due to a total knee replacement. As of October 27th, roughly, I was taken off of 111f. I was first informed that my first check would probably not be by the end of November. After speaking with them today the woman I spoke with stated, I was in the queue and that they would get to me when they got to me. When I asked about January, I was told maybe and that sometimes it takes 6 months. Not that they care, but people have mortgages, bills, etc. That they are responsible for. Unfortunately my hands are tied and have no place to turn to at this point.
