This is a very local bar / restaurant. Don't let the area or the local patrons scare you off. This place has good drinks and food. The atmosphere feels like a saloon. The bar is loud with noise from the many televisions with different sports playing as well as the patrons vying for their voice to be heard by their company. The patio area is roomy enough for an outdoor gathering. I went to try their Garlic Fried Chicken ( It was showcased on a Food Network show). The meal came with bread, beans, fries and of course the garlic fried chicken. The garlic was not incorporated within the chicken, rather spooned onto the chicken before being served. Overall, I still love that chicken and would go back for drinks and the garlic fried chicken.

I came here in late 1970s en route from LA to SF with guys I worked with.  We really enjoyed the family atmosphere and park bench seating, and the food and beer great too.  I was glad to see the place still there after all these years, albeit remodeled in a  more upscale way.  Still though the place retained the family feel as we could see the two parties of 10 -12 in neighboring tables were having good time.  The service was excellent- our waitress was attentive and personable.  The food was good too, my halibut with capers was chunky soft, and my friend's steak tender.

I love Pyrenees, one of my favorite Basque restaurants in town! The Oxtail Stew is awesome! That's what I usually get, but I recently started a low carb diet so I decided to try something else. The Garlic Chicken was amazing. Two boneless chicken breasts smothered in tomatoes and garlic butter sauce, how could you go wrong? And I got it Basque style, so I got all my favorite accoutrements that usually come with "the set up" like the cabbage soup (no beans). Add a plate of pickled tongue for the table and you're set!

Loud, lively place. Food served family style so be ready for lots of food and doggie bags. If you like lamb, theirs is  awesome. Make a reservation so you are assured of a table. Best for 3 or more.

Not from here, but they make feel as if you were a local.
Lots of local usual customers.
Prices on the mid high end but worth it. 
Try the bluechees barbeque bacon burger. 
Excellent flavor, and portion. The burger meat, one of the best tried.
Beer batter onion rings, really taste like beer.
