This hospital has a warm friendly atmosphere and clean facilities. The doctors are professional, yet they can connect with the patient on a more familiar level. I enjoy the service given and the attention to detail during assessment of the issue at hand. The staff are friendly and cheerful with a real caring attitude for their patients. The patients are involved in their care and everything is explained as it is being done, so there are no surprises. In my opinion, this is the best hospital in Rapides Parish.

Wonderful caring doctors who treated me like a person and not some random patient to be checked on and sent home. My nurses were precious empathetic souls who offered comfort and strength when I needed it. The food was good too!!! Love my cheeseburgers!

This is absolutely the worst hospital I know. My boyfriend's sister just recently had a baby and had to go back and forth 3 times in the course of about 2 weeks to DELIVER the baby. They turned her away because she was dilated, but not enough for them and they didn't feel like inducing. The last time she went before she delivered they turned her away while in pain because they didn't have enough rooms available.... They proceeded to dismiss her and writing on her chart that she delivered the child.... And to top it all off an old friend of mine went TODAY (December 7th,2017) to have her child and they turned her away too! For the same reason.. No rooms. And proceeded to tell her that if it was an emergency they would still turn her away. I have never in my life seen a hospital full of rude people...

I had to take my 2 year old here recently because she had swallowed a coin. My daughter was having a hard time breathing and she was drooling so I rushed her to the emergency room when I got there and was checked in they sent us straight back. We saw a nurse practitioner I don't remember her name. I explained to her what happened and she told me she said all she wants is for you to hold her she took her time and took me as a joke mind you my child is still drooling and crying. She finally did a X-ray on my daughter and found that the coin was stuck in her throat a few more inches and it would've been cutting off her ability to still breathe.. My husband then met me after getting off of work.. I kept in touch with my mother and after awhile I just broke down in tears because my daughter is over here suffering and you thought that I was joking.. We had to be transferred to Lafayette it took about 2 hours for them to arrive to Rapides hospital while my daughter is like that then it took us awhile to get there the ambulance workers wasn't in a hurry at all either.. this is my second time dealing with Rapides to where I have had a issue I will never bring neither one of my kids there ever again!!!

Worst experience that I have ever had from supposedly medical professionals !!!!! I went to emergency room after suffering from a painful swollen knee and leg that I was barely able to put pressure on. I explained where my injury came from and that I had chosen the emergency room over urgent care because the emergency room would have the capability to do X-rays, in-depth exams, information to relate to my primary care physician or anything related to medical care. I was taken to the nurse practitioner who asked me a few questions and felt both my knees while still clothed to do a comparison. I asked why was my knee still swollen when the injury occurred on that previous Monday. I was told that ligaments can stretch and tear when moved the wrong way. I asked was the injury serious and was told "NO". My course of treatment consisted of a steroid shot, an ace bandage, a Medrol pack and an anti-flammatory that I had already been taking the entire week. I was NOT pleased with my care and asked to speak to a supervisor. Both nurses that assisted told me right out that an X-Ray should have been done and after visually examining my knee advised me to consult my primary care physician because they could see that I seriously needed better care. The charge nurse came in and I explained from start to finish what had occurred and what had not occurred. I related to the charge nurse that I was told that it was most likely and injury to the ligaments in my knee but when I read the discharge instructions it clearly stated that the practitioner did not believe my knee to have any broken bones or torn ligaments in my knee. I said that you can't have it both ways ,is it the ligaments or is it not. My diagnosis was Knee Pain, NOS. The charge nurse became very condescending after I questioned the ability of the nurse practitioner. He even remarked that I could still walk so it must not be too bad. I lost it! I called him a sorry ass charge nurse and that his rudeness was disrespectful and uncalled for. He left the room after he knew he wasn't talking to someone who was going to put up with his attitude. He kept waving and saying bye, bye, have a nice day, bye. Very professional right? I became so upset as I was struggling to walk that I said he was lucky I didn't punch him. He called for security as I was slowly hobbling out of the emergency room. I called him a sorry ass charge nurse again and he remarked that there were kids around and to watch what I say. Are you serious !?!? Why was he following me out of the ER? He had already called security. I'm barely walking and he's not concerned about me and the piss poor care that I received but rather the piss poor service he was about to inflict on other people. I walked out with the security guard and talked with him and he helped me make some sense of things. I will be following up because I NEVER want another patient to experience the level of disrespectful and awful care that I received.
