History
Ray’s 3rd Generation Bistro Bakery has been a family owned and operated business since 1966. This longstanding Alton icon has been a bakery in the area since the 1930’s. It wasn’t until 1966 that Vera and Gavin Ray bought the bakery and it became Ray’s Bakery. Locals and traveler’s alike convened to get their bread, treats and delectable sandwiches. After marrying Dale Perkins, Donna purchased the Bakery from her parents in 1987, where the two continued to bake everyone’s favourites, adding their own savory additions as well. Daughter, Krysteen Perkins, as a talented landscape/gardener, can sometimes be seen lending her artful green thumb to the beautiful patio. Continuing a family tradition, Chef Jason Perkins reinvented the Bakery adding his special touch of fine cuisine and love of music to the charming town of Alton.
What we are about...
Ray’s 3rd Generation is a casual fine dinning restaurant and bakery situated in the lovely Historic Town of Alton, within the Hills of Headwaters.
Enjoy the classic tastes of family recipes prepared by hand since the 1960’s. Traditional favourites, like the famed Chelsea buns, butter tarts and chocolate chip cookies, are a must try (or re-try!) at the bakery. If the smell of the freshly baked bread doesn’t have your feet walking in the front door, then perhaps the scrumptious array of specialty pastries, by pastry chief Misty Sullivan, will!
Featuring a revolving blackboard menu, Chef Jason Perkins flexes his creative muscles on a weekly basis. Backed by local favourites, like the succulent Chicken Parmesan on linguine, Jason’s menu never ceases to awaken the taste buds. Take a walk down memory lane with the many black and white photos of the Historic Village of Alton while listening to the contemporary styling of local musicians. Discover the varieties of local foods that are eagerly integrated into the menu, taste the local Ontario Beers on Tap and bottled, and the many Ontario Wines.
Completing the ambiance and charm of Alton’s best-kept secret, is the dedicated and friendly staff. These friendly faces can be found serving in the dinning room and behind the counter. When the music is right you can find them tapping their toes or joining the performance in song!
Ray’s Third Generation Bistro Bakery is the prefect place for couples night out, large parties, and private functions! Book your reservations today!
