I've always been one of those guys that buys shoes that "will do" and are inexpensive instead of spending good money and getting something that will last. So this last time around, I opted to study up. Everywhere I looked online gave Red Wing almost universally positive reviews. I wanted something comfortable that will last, and I want to buy from people who will actually help me decide what I need and be patient with me, because I'm very picky. Enter Red Wing on Concord Parkway.

Holy cow, this is the best service I've ever received when picking out shoes. I've bought from countless places before, and rarely did I run into anyone who actually knew the product they were selling. Understandable, since Rack Room, Payless, DSW, and others stocked multiple brands and were usually ran by people who "worked in a shoe store", as opposed to people who "sell shoes". Red Wing SELL SHOES!

I told them my circumstances - that I work in a warehouse with an unforgiving concrete floor, I'm on my feet all day, and that I want something durable and comfortable that I won't be replacing in 8 months. I was greeted by Sam and Miss Elizabeth, who both spent an hour with me, helping me find the perfect style, size, and fit. And boy did they know their stuff, I learned so much. They told me about the advantages of shoes padded on the insides vs. shoes with exposed leather. They told me about spacers, that one foot is often bigger than the other and that you must size according to the big foot. Sam showed me additional insole options, put them in each pair of shoes I tried on (7 pairs in all), and made sure I was getting exactly what I needed. He and Miss Elizabeth were completely patient with me as I tried on everything, and that was my favorite part.

They informed me of their 30-day guarantee, their 1-year warranty against defects, and told me about the additional services they offer. These shoes are not cheap, and that's totally ok because you get your moneys worth in both well-made shoes and added value. Also, these are made in the USA with imported parts. Sounds good to me!!!

I ended up ordering a pair they had but in black, bought the insoles too, and left a very happy customer. I was so excited to finally find a place that gave me service in choosing what I needed instead of just counter service. And they gave me a free pair of socks to try on the shoes with since mine were ankle socks and I was trying on work boots. None of that pantyhose sock stuff you see at other shoe stores.

They call it "The Red Wing Experience", and mine was great. Much respect!
