what an amazing hidden gem. we love to support mom and pop operations. We walked in at 7:45pm - they close at 8:30pm, the staff was welcoming, friendly and courteous spite it being so late. A wonderful Central American restaurant and market with many specialty staple items that can be found across all of Central American countries. Limited seating capacity. The bathrooms were spotless and smelled clean, plenty room in parking lot as well in this free standing establishment. If you are looking for good food and want to try something new give this establishment a go it's been open for 5 years we ordered 3 pupusas a thick griddle cake or flatbread from Central America made with cornmeal or rice flour filled with melted cheese, refried beans and sometimes loroco see below or pork. - the revueltas/mixed come with beans, cheese and chicarron/pork, had great flavor, came hot and fresh, the dough was spot on and flavorful as well. - the loca/crazy option comes with same ingredients as above plus loroco a flower bud from Central America with a reminiscent taste of chard, artichoke, and asparagus mixed with a faint, floral sweetness, amazing combo! you don't find this everywhere even if pupusas are typically served, a unique menu item to this establishment. The curtido cole slaw but with vinegar instead of mayo was absolutely delicious. The sopa de res beef soup was one of the best I've had, flavorful, filling & served piping hot, it's filled with melt in your mouth beef chunks, corn, cabbage, carrots, squash and yucca, topped fresh cilantro and served with thick handmade tortillas, side of veggie rice and a wedge of lime. Definitely a hearty must try as the weather starts to cool down. The tacos were wonderful as well - the al pastor had nice flavor although not a traditional wet mexican style, the carnitas were good as well also not a traditional style as the gelatinous pork skin chunks were not included, the lengua tongue was cooked a bit too well for personal preference but still good. A mistake was made between ordering and food delivery but a welcome happy mistake it turned out to be, we order carne asada grilled steak tacos but a grilled steak platter arrived instead - well no problem! the steak had amazing flavor, it was fork tender sat on a bed of grilled tomatoesand onions, the red beans fantastic, the rice good and the avocado salad was a nice added touch, the dish is served with a side of thin corn tortillas as well. To drink we order agua de marañon cashew apple water - i say water loosely bc it's just a literal translation yet it can really be considered an ice tisane/tea - it is yet another item that's not typically found in many places and uniquely found at this hidden gem. It's has a tart almost sour taste, think lemon head, drink that's sweetened. I bet their breakfast is to die for! Absolutely recommend and would stop in over and over again when passing through Winchester, Va.
I love Reynosa Restaurant in Winchester. The food is so fresh and delicious. The prices are very good and fair. It’s a quiet little place with just a few tables. It’s like eating in a home kitchen, and it makes me feel warm and comfortable and good to hear mama Evelyn the owner talking away in the kitchen. Her voice is happy and soothing like a loving mother. Reminds me of eating at home when I was a child and listening to my mother talking happily in the kitchen. I love this place and I think you will too. 5 for sure !!!
Felt warm and welcomed as soon as we walked inside the restaurant. Great tasting food, loved the fajitas and tacos and beans with rice that came with.. Made me feel like family. If this is what you're looking for a warm place to peacefully eat and enjoy great food. This is the place.
Best Mexican restaurant in town. The lengua tacos were perfect, the cow foot stew delicious and my partner vegetarian said the salad was the best he had. Glad we tried this place and will definitely go again. Vegetarian options: Amazing salad with avocado and pupusa options .
Very very pleased! Family owned small business with great food and groceries. Price was good and portions were big. Definitely would go again if I'm back around Winchester!Food: 5/5
Food was delicious. Home made Queso, guac, and chips were fantastic
I highly recommend this restaurant. My husband and I have been desperately trying to find a truly authentic Mexican restaurant in Winchester and we did. Tacos are probably our favorite food but it’s so hard to find a good place that makes them. Their pupusas are absolutely delicious. We both got carnitas tacos and the pork was so tender and full of flavor. The rice and beans were seasoned perfectly. We were given chips and salsa when we sat down and even the salsa tasted amazing; homemade and addicting. We will definitely go here very often.
The owner of this business stopped by my home office yesterday, and mentioned that he owned this restaurant and I promised to stop in to check it out. SO GLAD HE DID!! Ordered the beef tacos, chicken tacos, and chicken quesadilla. Best quesadilla I have ever had, and the tacos have some incredible flavor as well. 10 out of 10 recommend!
Best Pupusas ive ever had!!! Dont change the recipe and the best queso!!!
Fantastic food and warm service in what feels like a convenience store/fast food setting.Food: 5/5
