An environmental park on the landfill. If you are interested in preservation of salt marsh, come to this place. It is a good place for education on the environment. Easy trails for children and the elderly.

Great park. Lovely birds, make sure you wear insect repellent. This is a wild life sanctuary and you have to be mindful of that.

A friend recommended the place, something about having gone and seen a swan the size of a coffee table, etc. etc. Though skeptical about the Meadowlands offering beautiful nature, I figured what the hey, that friend has rarely steered me wrong. Well, to me this one was among the rare misses. The waters are disgusting and look rather polluted (including the occasional tire here and there), and personally I feel that nature views are considerably diminished by the obvious presence of major highways, power lines, and skyscrapers in the background. There was some wildlife that I felt sorry for, thinking, "Look what we've done to your habitat." and "This can't be healthy for you." I saw somebody with a fishing rod and thought to myself, "That does not strike me as a particularly good idea." NJ has plenty of gorgeous national parks, half an hour to an hour from this area. You want nature and great views? Pick a different spot than this one, in my opinion. It does have its charms here and there, but... it's quite skipable, I regretted having suggested it to my family and apologized for what struck me as a disappointment.
