Story

This haven for lovers of the Sonoma Coast and wine country has been around since 1927. Originally built as a restaurant and inn for the loggers and fisherman; today the River’s End serves guests looking for the ideal romantic dining experience or just searching for renewal in one of our cabins.

The epicenter of Sonoma Coast dining - the River's End is located in the quaint village of Jenner-by-the-Sea about 20 minutes north of Bodega Bay. The restaurant is set on a bluff overlooking the Russian River spill into the Pacific Ocean.

We happened upon this place last week while driving the coast. Didn’t know anything about it. Wasn’t expecting the amazing lunch we had. Best salmon I have ever had. The watermelon salad was amazing. We loved it. Excellent service. So glad we stopped.

Called to make a reservation for a party of seven. Was told, "We don't have tables that big." Then said, "Could we get two tables next to each other?" The telephone representative replied rudely, "That's against our policy. Thanks for thinking of us" and hung up. Totally get small tables and totally get (although disagree with) having a policy around how you seat people. Don't agree with being rude to potential customers. Don't agree with acting as though you don't need customers because you're so successful that you don't need to try hard to please people. And answering a question politely hardly falls in the category of "trying hard." No worries. Won't try here again and will make sure as many people as possible know how rudely I was treated. In today's world, it's really easy to go from "on top" to "out of business"... even in a quaint, foggy, coastal town.

One of the absolutely worst and most overpriced so-called restaurants we have been to anywhere in my travels. Not sure how it is possible that this place has any above two star ratings. Incredibly terrible and what a waste considering the potential with view and limited options in area.

Great food. Great service. Beautiful setting for sunset. Parking is lacking. I think the protip here is set your reservation for AFTER sunset. Arrive before sunset. Have bottle of wine on deck during sunset. Eat after dark.
